Ron@ Looks even better, now that you mention multiple textures!! I've been trying to manually re-create just such a scene using (other tree packs) and the Sahara add-on. The end result is still far from what you created here.

It may be helpful to some users to have the fully exported and base models ... so it can be more easily made to fit their needs. Like when using with TGE or TGEA, may need the older formats.
However, models formats change, etc ... so over time it seems best to include both the exported DTS model and a DAE source version -- so it can be manually imported and tweaked if needed.
(makes resizing the models on import, much easier if DAE is included ... as DTS models can only be resized when added to the scene, not load time.)

The pack looks great, the tutorials you suggest even more valuable ... especially if you can walk through making such a winter scene like the one above. Personally, art packs with out demos are not doing themselves justice -- IMHO nobody could make the assets look better than the original artist/designer.

I can not wait to get this model pack, FBX and DAE source will be great.

This looks awesome! Will definitely be picking up this pack.

I always prefer collada (.dae) source files because pretty much all the programs including torque can handle them even if in a limited way.

This pack is looking really good. So - "git-r-dun" so I can buy it already....

Hey - I don't know if you have Sahara, but if you do you might want to talk to Konrad about setting up your pack to handle his "accumulation map" feature so that it plays nicely there, too. Just a thought - I add Sahara to all of my personal projects, though I don't really use it right....

OBJ, FBX, DAE is pretty much the standard set of model formats for game assets nowadays. OBJ is supported by optimising tools like Balancer (which is helpful to make mobile-frindly models out of bigger ones) and all cheaper 3D modelling tools, so that's something I'd personally want. FBX is very compatible with other game (and visualisation) engines, and can be exported with embedded textures if you want to make it really easy. DAE is pretty much open FBX and preferable around here :)

You'll have maximum reach with all the above formats.

Another great video Ron!

I also have 3DSMAX and while I wouldn't mind having a *.max format source if the art is plug and play then I'm good. I normally like *.max format source if I have to do tweaking to art to get them to properly import into T3D, but since this'll be on GG store I don't think that'd be a issue. :)

This looking really awesome and much natural! Maybe you can look at 0.46 in the video. From far the floor texture looks not so naturel, like all the other stuff is. May try out distance seting.
But, this is a really, really nice kit!

Looking great.

Regarding the source files, OBJ or DAE (exported with the OpenCollada exporter for 3DS) should be ok.

Looking fantastic!
I use 3DS Max so if you did have the option of the source I would like that, and buy it.

I'm picking this one up for sure, Ron. Looks sweet. I really don't care if there're source files included or not. In fact I'd rather as simple a pack as possible. I'd even go so far as to request seasonal packs, as opposed to all 4 seasons in one pack. The only thing I can concieve of needing might be the UV unwraps so that I can tweak the textures, but honestly those trees etc look great as is.

FYI I'll be using this pack to build the "timberline" section of a map I'm working on. It's mostly tundra. Nobody seems to know what tundra looks like?! :)

Ron,

What settings did you use for your ground cover, if you don't mind sharing? It covers everything very well and looks great! Performance with your settings is surprisingly well also.
