Goodbye FoHO, I knew you well [Image Heavy]

It is true. I have shut down the FoHO server(currently using it as my desktop and writing from it now) and have dropped production of it. FoHO for the time being has been set aside. I tried to do the Indie thing as a full time gig for the year and a half I was layed off, but in the end, just did not make it. Take what I have now with FoHO back 5 years and it would be a pretty impressive game. Now, I cannot even compete with the art of free-to-play MMO's let alone the technology.
So what's up? College is up. I am only taking two classes but add work and four kids, game development time is quite limited. But the goal is to get that Bachelor's degree so don't get in that situation again.
But not all was lost. I learned a ton and had amazing lot of fun. For me, the design of the world and addition of technology and features is comparitive to leveling up in a game. I had my few "I did it" dances with those features that took quite an effort. With alot of help from many of the other tmmokit devs the feature size of FoHO grew quite considerably. List of features:
-4 realms
-Character customization
-More mount points
-Mesh Hiding
-Aging/Growing system
-Both a TGE + TMK and T3D clients
-Combination of TGE and T3D clients using same databases
-Auto PvP or PvE based on zone
-Selectons
-Polysoup
-Alpha LOD
-Harvesting
-Air to Air combat
-Dragon and land mounts
-and a crap load more...
Some review pictures and videos:
Air to Air combat. Shows both FoHO Advanced(T3D) and FoHO Lite(TGE).

So what next? I am not totally sure. Something casual that is for sure. None of this MMO business. I have some ideas for both iTorque 2D as well as something with the 3DAAK. Either way just something to play with a few hours here and there. Before I start anything I need to finish the 3rd book in the Foundations of Hope Trilogy. The readers have waited too long for me to finish the game that I need to put an end to the story. Then if I pick up a FoH game again, it'll probably be T3D and just multiplayer based.

Good luck with your next project!

Leathel, I am sorry this project has to be shelved. But though I am no programmer, I have a lot of fun tinkering with the 3DAAK. Still trying to get it and AFX 2.0 to play together in T3D along with UAISK. If you manage to do this, how about throwing out some pointers on how to merge them? :)Good luck with your next project!

Played with the demo of 3DAAK and it is quite fun and have an interesting idea of how to use it. I definitely would like AFX 2.0 and UAISK merged with it, so might try. Not much of a programmer myself though :) Keep me informed if you have any luck as well. Probably be eaiser to merge both onto the AFX source? leathel at lethal.net

Did work on other smaller game projects I did release, but not one using the Torque engine. Good luck on the degree and the family.

Wow, this game seemed good... I would've played it over Istaria: Chronicles of the Gifted, and I spent almost two hundred dollars on it. Oh well, the good games never stay. I was looking forward to playing.

I look forward to reading it soon.

I for one am grateful you have begun working on the last book. I have been patiently waiting since 2008 for you to finish up your trilogy. I look forward to reading it soon.
