My company's (Archeus Software International) current project is Role Play Half-Life, but we are soon to be expanding our horizons and moving to a new engine (the Torque Engine) in order to fully realise our dream of a fully functioning and vast MMORPG set in the real world.
Imagine this: You have arrived in a new city, cars are driving around, people are talking, a plane flys overhead. You're poor and need some money quick so you walk into a gunshop and purchase a pistol. Off you trundle to the nearest bank and proceed to rob the place. One of the people in the bank turns out to be a police officer and a running gun battle takes place. You run outside in a hail of bullets and shoot a driver, you steal his car and just as you think you are about to get away a number of police cars come flying around the corner. You set off at high speed towards the Airport, once there you run up to a Cessner and take off. You must be clear now! Oh no here comes the Police Helicopter, guns ablazing.
We hope to realize this dream using the Torque Engine, with each driver, clerk, police officer etc a real person behind a computer all playing online at the same time in a huge linked up world of cities, valleys, moutains, etc. The list goes on...
