Extended Nipples ...

[Start humour]

I'm saving up for nipple extension surgery ...
nipples > "The ladies are going to think I'm
so cool with my 5 inch bad boys" ... man I
can't wait !!! ... I'm going to get them corn
rolled as soon as there done ;-) !

[End humour]

Game Programming

Let me start of by saying I'm not a big
vertex/pixel shader fan ... don't get me
wrong ... passing your geometry directly
to the gpu get's my panties just as wet as
the other guy's, but these damn things
are way to low level.
I hate to say it but they make me feel
like I'm working backwards ???

Can you believe I'm actually writing the
level editor in opengl ???
... I guess I'm trying to show off my
versatility or something ;-) ... ?
To make a long story short: I wrote a
''tiny" OpenGL Engine which handles
everything from face creation to movable
platforms and I must say/confess that I
had a 75% better experience coding the
tiny opengl engine than I did with my
big dx engine.

[Updates]

(1) The engine is 'finished' !!!
(2) Working hard on the Level Editor ;-) ...
(3) Made some Utilities for the Level Editor
(Texture Packer, New Material Editor ... etc.)
(4) All games (3) are on hold until the level
editor is finished ...
(5) I made generic Quake I, II and III level
parsers (I was bored yesterday ?) ...
(6) Looked at the Quake II source code,
pissed on it, then deleted it (It's way to old)...
(7) Learned vertex and pixel shaders ... there
great for simple things like lighting and
various shading techniques: cartoon, thermal,
cloak ... etc, but when you combine different
things together all hell breaks loose !!!
Here's a tip: Animate your geometry on the
cpu then pass it to dx it makes life allot easier ...

Oh yeah I almost forgot, I've decided not to sell my engine after all ...
Why ? Well to be perfectly honest I think it's
money making potential is very low...
maybe I'll change my mind later, but for now I need to concentrate on making games... (If your interested in a 'private copy' you can e-mail me about the details).

[3D Level Editor]

The level editor is coming along well, it has
a name now "Lucifer" (Don't get the wrong idea,
I'm not a devil worshiper or anything... the '666' on my wall was there before I moved in ... honest ?)

There are many differences between my
editor and other game editors:

(1) It uses pure face and vertex data which
means no yucky compiling(with the
exception of optional csg).
(2) It can assign 'multiple textures to any
model in the world.
(3) Each texture can be rotated, translated
and scaled separately for animation purposes.
(4) You can construct models vertex by
vertex within the editor !!!
(5) You can use the output in your
projects !!! ...
(6) It makes your breathe fresh and cures
herpes !!! ...

[Commercial 3D Editor]

Graphics

It's funny that I can program for 15+ hours
straight but when I fire up my 3d modelling
program ... 20 minutes later, I get a f***ing
coma and start to drool uncontrollably...

Graphics are definitely the reason why I'm
not programming in a big gold plated office
right now ;-) ...
But seriously, art work is the only thing that's holding me back. On this
very site I've seen a substantial amount of
fellow developers who are either planning
or currently making games that require huge
amounts of artwork and effort(Don't you guys ever learn ?)...
Every time I see this I want to shoot myself in the head !!!
I just hope you guys have good artists
and a butt load of talent ... cause if you
don't, you might as well be coding in
Microsoft Word ;-) ...

I've tried to acquire artists online in the
past (for about 5 years to be exact ...
I'm 20 yrs old now). Unfortunately the
'really' good ones are already working
for big companies and the other guys
either:

(1) Want a huge salary.
(2) Produce work way to slow.
(3) Produce horrible work.
(4) Simply quit (Most common).

That's why I choose to do the artwork
myself ... I'm not going to be the 60yrs
old poster typing "Artist Wanted"
on some game programming website,
besides the advantages of doing
everything yourself(assuming you can
do everything yourself in a reasonable
amount time) are huge !

Research

More physics(Better use of verlet
integration mostly)...

Alternative Lighting techniques based
loosely (very loosely) on radiosity ...

Real Time Raytracing ... 0.6 fps ...
"Damn you
Geforce II ... DAMN YOU"

Real Time Geometry Modification and Deformation ... bullet/rocket holes,
broken metal, lava ... etc

Well that's it ... .. I'm heading over to ID to put some anthrax on Carmack's computer ...

Until next time ... remember: [Censored because of profanity]

[P.S]

Here's a current shot of the level editor ...

The file wasn't found for the level editor.

That's strange ?

I guess Geocities doesn't like me ;-) ...

Try right clicking on the url and choose
'Save Target As" on the popup menu.

seems like you have a lot of enthusiasm for your projects, and a lot of talent. best of luck with everything.

your "camel toe" comment though was completely uncalled for - thoroughly gratuitous. we are a community of indie's trying to maintain, at least, the appearance of professionalism.

Thanks for the compliments and good luck to you as well ...

I agree that the 'camel toe' reference is way off 8-( , so I'll remove it ...
