Torque X 4.0 CEV - RC phase is now on!

by Giuseppe De Francesco · 01/20/2011 (2:44 pm) · 123 comments

Hey guys,

Welcoming the return of GarageGames I'll add more good news for today: Torque X 4.0 CEV Beta phase ends today, so the current CEV product steps in the RC (Release Candidate) phase.

In a few hours all CEV users will find the 4.0 in their project list (www.xp-dev.com/projects) to start playing with it.

The Torque X Builder (TXB) for the 4.0 CEV is on the 4.0 CEV Trac website (trac2.xp-dev.com/TX4CEV) along with the first VS2010 templates. More will come in the next days. The 3D editor is still in progress so keep an eye on the Trac website for the latest news.

Please use the Trac website for bugs submission as well, as the Mantis website was only for the Beta. From now on Torque X 4.0 CEV editors updates will be published on the Trac website only and the bugs will only be accepted on the Trac website.

GarageGames has put an end to TX, but the community has not, so the CEV users, now able to deploy on XBLIG using TX 4.0 CEV for XNA 4, will also get (soon I hope) a Windows Phone 7 working environment.

I hope you like this progress ;)

Hey guys, I'm having problems with installing the templates. Is there a specific place i must save them?

I saved them to a folder on my desktop and trying Double Clicking on them but it comes with the error message

"This extension is not installable on any current products"

Hello Pino,

I would love to find out how to join in on the CEV wave if possible.

I was working on porting a 3.1.5 based project a while back and was running into issues with the Torque2D and TorqueCore projects not properly building the assemblies. After popping back in here it's exciting to see you spearheading an initiative like the CEV, which can only serve to help everyone and hopefully that's reciprocal for yourself as well.

Thank you much!

Hey guys,

sorry for being VERY slow lately but I'm having some time management issues due to the upcoming general election here in Ireland (I'm one of those canvassers that people hates!) I'll be back at full regime after the elections!

Hey Pino I sent you an e-mail so I could try and get access to the CEV but gmail being stupid and saying it failed to deliver the e-mail so would be very greatful if you could send me an e-mail on how to access the CEV.

@William: I'm on WP7 now so I'll be brief. When you copy the email address from the profile page an anti-bot security script adds "null" just after the "@" so you have to strip that one to get the correct email address ;)

Hi Pino,

Since I'm also using gmail, I may have the same problem as @William. I just mail you another request. Appreciate it if you can grant me access.

Guys,

I see many requests from Creators' Club licensees: to gain access to the CEV you need to have the source license, not just the binary ;)

Also you mention you need the source code version, there was only one version of the TorqueX license to buy or am I missing something?

I can't believe I just found this. TorqueX has been out of commission for far too long. This is awesome, well done.

Could I get access as well?
