What is One 12?

One 12 is my own personal adventure into game development as a hobby. Its sole purpose is to serve as a personal challenge to myself, to create an entire kick-ass video game in the space of 12 months, or one year. Starting January 1st, and ending December 31st, 2011.

One 12 will be a 3D Action Adventure game set in a fantastical world that should fill the hearts of players with nostalgia for classic titles such as The Legend of Zelda, or Prince of Persia.

One 12 is powered by Torque 3D and a variety of 3rd party add-ons such as 3DAAK.

My current task is conceptualizing the art style, and systems documentation, so that I may jump right into the engine come January. A rolling start, if you will.


I will keep this blog (and this one) updated once a month or so with updates, videos, screenshots, etc.

Also, I suppose pics or it didn't happen! Here's a swimming pool, a strange sphere-man-pig with a working skeleton for animations, some glowing health potions, and a bridge between two tall structures. This squeezed into the demo of Ubiq Visuals' 3DAAK, which I plan to purchase over the holidays. So um, Merry Christmas you guys!

Sounds like you've got a thought out plan, and I do like the 1Jan-31Dec deadline.

Thanks guys! Progress blogs are always a favorite of mine as well, I pray that I might do this one some justice.
