Survival Strike - Flying - Its an art form

Starting to work on improving the animations on the characters that use Jet-packs, and introducing flying vehicles. Flying is one of the major parts of travel in Survival Strike. You can either use a jet pack, a drop-pod as shown in the video or the next big challenge the drop-ship which carries 6 drop pods, a driver and a mounted cannon - I'm looking forward to working on that in T3D - should be pretty amazing with some AFX thrown in. I've just got to figure out how to deploy those drop-pods containing your team at various locations. More on the drop-ship working in a later blog.

Videos from a test environment to see what I can achieve..excuse the zombies they're not quite ready yet.

From a previous blog, I've pretty much implemented the parachute with cargo container deployment - the next stage is to create a GUI for adding items into the container before is deployed, maybe a sound effect of a cargo plane flying by.. add in the plane later :)

Nice jetting! Vapour looks a bit like radioactive snot, but hey. Like the supporting fire from the gunship thingy.

Awesome stuff Julian! :) How much is this source editing vs TS?

@Mack - I've not touched the source that much in the video above, it's mainly using AFX scripting :) Attaching particle effects to nodes on players/vehicles is a breeze.

Nice work.
Like the drop pod. Looks like a flying coffin.

thanks..... close. cryo-stasis chamber. Once I get around to it.. after 1.3 alpha version of the game is released to the public before Christmas (hopefully), the idea is to add finishing touches before it goes BETA such as a frosted/ice/thawing effect when the doors to the droppod open to simulate cryostasis revealing the player. Maybe if I had the time I'd animate the player getting out.

@ JulianR We're using iPi-Soft's MotionCapture, so if you like we could take some time to get you some animations like getting out of the pot etc.

At the moment i am pretty busy, but i should have extra time in January.
What do you say?
