My delays... :( But news nonetheless

So yea... I launched my environment pack, was hard at work on the 1.1 update immediately thereafter, was looking like a 1 week time period inbetween releases. However I decided to take a couple days off for a break as I was making exceptional progress annnnd... I stalled out. Fortunately my stall-out is over and the update should be comin soon. It'll be a touch smaller than I originally planned but that is just so I can get at least a basic release of it and start to get some feedback from anyone. I'm currently typing this while waiting for class to begin (this is the first week of the new term) so I can't post any screens of what's bein worked on so I'll describe it instead.

The 1.1 update focuses on particle effects for environmental purposes. As mentioned, it'll be a bit smaller than I had oriinally hoped for but not to worry, I'll have everything completed in no time. Soon after this I hope to have the 1.15 update done and released which will contain the rest of the effects.

The 1.1 has 3 different types of area fogging and a waterfall effect with sound. There is a smooth, slow moving, large area volume fog effect. Also a smooth, very slow ground-level fog and a rough, quick moving smaller area volume fog. The waterfall comes in 3 different emitters, the top-level spray, the waterflow of the waterfall itself and the base mist.

For 1.15 I'll continue with more emitters for things like river flow collisions like rocks sticking up in the water, also do effects that are useful for other climate types such as desert and badlands.

Immediately after the 1.15 release I'll begin work on the 1.2 release as well as a NEW project! :D I'll will work on the T3DEP updates side by side with my new project. The 1.2 update will focus on ambient sounds. I will be going back through and reconstructing certain sounds as well as creating a very large amount of new ones. 1.3 will contain texture rebuilds, I'll be revisiting certain materials that I think need to be redone and will also focus on precipitation effects. The 1.4 update will have updates to the L3DT climate files as well as the water shader. And naturally all of these updates may also make other small tweaks here and there throughout.

So as you can see I have the T3DEP planned out quite well for the near future. My other project I don't want to get into too much detail at this point in time. With the 1.15 update release I'll go into much greater detail about the next project of mine. The basics of it though is it'll be a special effect pack of sorts, not a collection of art assets. As is my general theme it'll apply to outside environments.

So this is just my quick little update blog. As soon as I get out of class today (and get back from the groccery store... and get dinner cooking...) I'll get to work immediately on the 1.1 update, all that is left is the documentation. Which by the way is very extensive, each parameter of every effect is explained in detail, making things easy to adjust on your own as your own needs demand. I plan to begin on the 1.15 update tonight as well, tonight is going to be solid work.

And if you haven't taken a look at the Torque 3D Environment Pack, now would be a great time to do so! As I'm showing here, continued updates and additional content is added as time goes on. Good luck finding a content pack that keeps giving you more for nothing!
