Racing Sound Pack Now Available!

Last Fall, I put my own claim to the test: I set out to prove that a person could produce a full racing game with the TGB Kart Kit within a month. I met that challenge, completing Zombie Karts in just four weeks. Along the way, however, I saw a few needs.First, I felt the kit's example game needed to be more complete. That prompted me to update the kit to include a full, complete, and published game: Cascadia Kart.
Second, was the discovery that quality, usable sounds are hard to find. The Internet has a wide variety of sounds out there... with an even wider range of quality and legal uses. Virtually nowhere could I find decent royalty-free sounds for the game, especially for the engine loops. In order to make my deadline, I had to pay a contractor to create some sounds for me. It was only by pure luck that I had the contact and he had the time!
So with Zombie Karts wrapped up, I turned my attention to those needs. As I worked on the kit update, Cascadia Games sound artist Erhan Ergenekan went to work on a sound pack. Our goal: a mid-sized (~50) pack of sounds with an emphasis on smooth engine loops. The result: a large pack (~90) of sounds including loops, honks, revs, and drive-byes for five unique vehicles.
I recently put together a brief demo, which you can listen to here.
I am very excited about this pack's potential. I know it's a great fit for the TGB Kart Kit. And I have no doubt it will work fantastic with Luma's long-anticipated T3D Racing Starter Kit! It is available for download right now from the Torque Powered Developer Store.

Chris: Way to go! Congrats on the packs! I too am in the making of a smaller Racing sounds pack myself and have been, off and on for about the last 9 months but never got around to finishing it. My idea was set more on the need for speed like sounds base. Trying to move from just Ambient Sounds into other avenues of packs. I hope this works out well for you. Congrats!Mike: Long time! hows life? Be safe my friend.

@Will: Thanks! Your project sounds like a great idea. This pack took about 7 months from conception to release. It's definitely a trickier art than we thought. :)

@Mike: Thanks! I don't think all 2D games are unrealistic and all 3D games are realistic, but I agree that different styles of sounds suit different games. Since this is our first audio pack, we're in wait-and-see mode. If sales are good, a new pack or even a free update to this one are possible.@Will: Thanks! Your project sounds like a great idea. Oh don't get me wrong Chris. What I was talking about with "realistic" is the rumble at idle. The sounds are great and totally worth the price. Thanks again for making this kit.Hey Will. 'bout you came out of hiding.
