Regular Max2DTS Exporters with Fixed LOD

[If you hate reading and want a 45 second video about this Resource..skip to the bottom.]
As for the rest of you..
- If you followed the thread about the LOD issue of the regular-Max2DTS 3dsMax exporter and would like to have a working regular Max2DTS exporter...well, here you go:

DOWNLOAD HERE: Max: 9,2009,2010,2011

The included exporters work with Max9, Max2009, Max2010, Max2011.
(I did not compile any other versions since my exporter codebase requires the Max9sdk or newer.)

More info:
- LODs will work on the object's pixelsize!
- 100 'maxdetails' are allowed instead of the exporter's original 20
- They have Feng Ning's patch
- They work on DTS version 24
(DTSv25/26 seems 'not-necessary' for these exporters since the DTSv25/26 features are not supported by the Max DTS exporters(afaik). DTS(v25/26)are compiled from DAE(collada) by T3D..and only T3D uses this version(update: TX3D now uses version 26).
So basically; if you compiled these exporters to use DTSv25/26, you would be creating a T3D ONLY exporter that would not support all of the DTSv25/26 features. Not quite ideal.) [I hope that is clear enough for the points made]

I changed the about box to show v0.901 with extra info;

Enjoy...

This is great EB!
Does these fixed exporters include your fix for normal exporting?

Best regards

Peter,
that fix was made for the Pro-exporter by Fyodor "bank" Osokin. I merely compiled newer versions of it after he supplied the corrected source.

I don't plan on porting his code from the pro exporter to the regular exporter since it is very easy to:
"close max>switch out exporters>restart max>use exporter>check file for proper export>close max>re-switch out exporters"

So, this only works on t2d, tge 1.52, and tgea 1.82?
and you need to use unmessdts?

thanks...

Javier;..the exported DTS files will work in TGB,T2D,TX3D,TGEA,T3D,TX2D,TGE..and any other engines that can use DTS.
(I'm not quite sure how you came to such a conclusion as to be specific with version numbers.)
//-----------------------
..and you MAY still need to use unmessDTS if your player model requires it.

Might be a dumb question, but I'm not understanding which exporter to use?

We have the regular one that have some patches and the pro one with other patches...

I'm not getting what to use when.
If someone can help me :D

For the moment, I was using the Pro one with the macro&interface... but as the regular exporter seems to be updated to fix issue, I'm worried if I made the good choice.

Thanks

Elvince: I wouldn't mind explaining it a bit..but the problem here is that the situation is not easily explained in a few moments of written text. It's a bit beefier than that. Perhaps I'll write a blog and then Mr. Perry can forward it onto the documentation androids. We'll see how my week goes.

Donnie:
I'll tell ya what Donnie, I'll mail you the Doit! 2.0 test for max7(since we never meet on IM). After that I'll compile a Max7 version for you (without Feng Ning's Patch but with the other fixes). It's a double win for you. :)

Thanks eb. I hope you will find time. In all case, thanks for maintaining those exporter.

Might be another interesting thing , why keeping DTS exporter compare to DAE - with open collada?

Go figure Donnie! I thought about this, this very morning!

I just reinstalled windows on my main developer machine and I just finished getting things setup a day ago.

I actually have max open right now to make the final checks on the file before I send it off to you ASAP. How ironic.
- Expect an email soon.

Donnie, I sent you a test version of Doit! 2.0 for Max7.

As for the exporter for max7:
I simply don't have the time to compile a Max7 exporter right now as it takes a bit more than a few simple steps. However, I hear that GG is planning to release a version of their DAE to DTS converter to support DTSversion24(tge..etc) by use of a compatibility option.

Also:
- You may want to check your exporter to make sure it doesn't already handle LOD in TGE properly. There were some weird results talked about when using different engines..so you may not even need a new exporter version. It's worth a check anyways.

thanks eb, worked perfectly!

I just have one question: Since you are the only one in this community as far as I know that can complie the max exporter, could you probably fix the exporter's "file path length" bug it is probably not a bug, but is is really annoying.

Thanks.

Hey Marcus.. if you want to do me the favor and explain in detail excatly what happens, I will look into it. I have never experienced a problem with the file path length.
