Plan for Mike Nelson

As of last Friday (Jan 4, 2002), I was picked up by 21-6 Productions. I can see I have long and challenging road with them and I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm as excited as can be. This is exactly where I want to be at this time: working with a strong and professional team working together to build an exciting game.

I'll be working as a programmer. So the first thing I did was purchase the license for the Torque Engine and start studying. You get a lot for that $100. The engine itself is a marvel of achievement and power (especially that net-code -- very impressive). With the support of Garage Games via the ever growing documentation and the forums it's more than possible to take control of the engine to make it do what you need. My many thanks go to Garage Games for the effort in making this engine available at such a small cost and thanks to all people that submitted resources and tutorials. Hopefully I'll be able to give back what little I will learn from the engine in the future.

My first task is to build up Myrmidon's dynamic mission generator to the Phase II requirements (see Myrmidon status on 21-6 for some background on the Phases I and II). Basically what I'm doing is to take the existing mission generation code from Phase I and ramp it up a notch, adding a few features, fixing a couple bugs, and putting a bit more polish on it. The dynamic mission generator will add some variety to the missions so things in the missions won't be exactly the same each time. Variety is the spice of life.
