2010 Global Game Jam Wrap-UpOn the weekend of January 29-31, 2010, something magical happened. Global Game Jam. Over 30 countries around the world participated in a 48 hour game development event. Programmers, artists, and designers in 138 separate Jam sites came together to do what they love: make games. Torque and InstantAction were proud to host one of the Las Vegas jam sites, which was a fantastic success.Among the participants were IA and Torque employees Eric Preisz, Mich Perry, Matt Fairfax, Derek Bronson, Derek Manning, David Queener, and Stephen Garcia. Additional employees, such as Deborah Marshall, Leo, Justin Scott, and others stopped by to give their support. A surprise late entry was the entire Sickhead team, whom you might know as the authors of Torsion and major contributors to Torque 3D. Finally, we cannot forget the non-Torque people who joined in, which included students from local schools, a Vegas local, and a brave soul who traveled from Colorado. Together, we were apart of a world wide community of passionate game makers. It was one of the most fun and interesting game developer events I've ever participated in, and I look forward to 2011. I invite you to continue browsing this blog to see the pictures, videos, and games that came out of Las Vegas GGJ, which we are very proud of. |

Looks like it was a good event guys. Its too bad that there were two Vegas GGJ locations setup, but it seems like it was a good thing all around. Next year should be even bigger and better as the GGJ idea takes off even more!

I thought that "Your Fridge is Running" was a rather novel take on multiplayer FPS.
Though the thought of game design in 48hours feels too much like stress to me.
