This patch had a quicker turnaround than our average patch, but there were several important fixes that needed to be resolved. update again focuses on polishing and improving the early stages of the game. We've given new special abilities to many monster species, in an attempt to make the various species encounters feel unique. We also integrated a new default control scheme. If you are an existing player and would like to try the new scheme you can set it by entering the Controls tab on the Options Menu and clicking the Reset to Defaults button. As always you can apply for alpha testing or get the more information by visiting our web site at: www.therepopulation.com
Crafting
- Armor plates are now stackable.
Effects and Abilities
- Fixed a bug that was causing Knock Down abilities to not trigger. It should be noted that knockdowns do not work on all NPCs, they must be capable of being knocked down.
- Added the Combat Tactics based ability: Charge. This ability will charge you towards your opponent giving a momentary but potent speed boost.
General
- Player held Lightsources have had their range and brightness increased.
- The /eval command has been updated to return factional and difficulty level information on your target. By default you can also get this same functionality by pressing the Z key when you have an NPC or Monster targeted.
- There is now a 20 second delay before a character can logout when they will be pending logout. If players disconnect or if they quit without camping they will remain in the world for 20 seconds. They can be attacked at that point, and if they take any damage it will reset the camping timer until the end of combat. You are not able to camp while in combat. This change was made to prevent players from "pulling the plug" in PVP or a bad encounter to avoid death. This code still needs some testing, so if you get a chance, try to fool it and let us know if you succeeded and how.
- Fixed a bug that was preventing votes from being tallied correctly. Voting is again functional. You can vote for the Mayor of your control point of residence, or declare your residency in a new location by visiting the Control Computer in that town.
- Newly created characters will automatically be a resident of either Freedomtown or Plymouth, depending on which faction they choose. This allows them to take advantage of the benefits of that city's control point bonuses, rather than needing to manually declare themselves a resident first.
- Reduced the speed at which players can strafe.
- Fixed some spelling errors.
- Made a number of server side optimizations.
Graphics
- Teleporters and Control Computers have a new and improved appearance.
- Clouds should no longer render as black on certain cards.
- Trees should now be visible from a much further distance than was previously the case. The distance shapes are billboards, so the performance hit should be minimal.
- Rock formations and the Waterfall in Plymouth should also be visible at a much further distance than before.
- The trees in Plymouth will now enter into lower levels of detail more quickly than was previously the case.
- Female animations are
- Fixed a bug that was causing bracelets to sometimes have a missing material.
- Added a new menu logo.
- Fixed a couple places in Plymouth where the roads didn't quite line up correctly when they intersected.
