Hi My name is Edward Moyer, Most of you guys know me from my Fantasci: Hidden War Blogs, were taking a short break to hopefully win some hearts and minds by showing some of our other talents. Combined with one of the Fantasci Artists, Roland Orr. We plan to create a work of art and show some of torque true strengths through its powerful enviromental items and new tools. with a bit of skill and luck we might be able to grab the big prize, with your guys assistance, we know we can.
Here we have the largest asset of our enviroment, the main asset.. our concept 3d render

and through the magic of torque with some thoughtful changes.. our carrier in scene.. after just a few hours of work...

We encourage you all to check out the Unearthly Blog and the "other" competition items and to make comments on the art and our progress. We wish everyone the best of luck.

Alot of folks are putting their final product out really fast, showing the end product, one of the rules of the contest is show the WIP, so in that spirit we will be taking all of that and pushing it out a bit at a time. We have alot of materials planned, but we are also on a budget, 4096 x 4096 texture sheet for each layer of materials and such, so it will be interesting to see this project take shape. Plus you have to remember the scale were working at here to make this shot work.. thats a full 1000 meter long ship, on a 1024 x1024 terrain map. so we are talking real perspectives and real amount of work to get the artistic points across.

I will have to ask the artist side of the team, Roland is the mesh artist.

I am using Lightwave 3d to create all the mesh objects. And at this point that includes the terrain. As the terrain poly count counts towards the limit in place for the contest. So we will not be using T3D terrain system for this scene as T3D's terrain encompasses a massive amount of poly's.
Right now i am working on the carrier and adding battle and crash damage.
i am hoping to have the basic damage done for 2morrow. and hopefully post another screengrab of it for 2morrow afternoon sometime.

you guys might want to spend some time on the concept phase, as ALL past winners for every contest put together on that site has had strong concept sketches and concept sheets from the beginning. but good luck, a lot of stiff competition on this one.

yes, we noticed that, we did all our concepts raw from 3d. and have the WIP shots to prove the development. Neither of us are concept artists, in the traditional sense. And the concept phase is well gone, we already into the technical phase.
