Greetings everyone!

Unfortunately Game Mechanics Kit 1.2.4 is yet to be uploaded to your GG accounts, so if you are a registered user of GMK you can get it right now if you'll email me at logicking@logicking.com with subject "GMK 1.2.4". Please don't forget to write your email/account at GarageGames.com.

Meanwhile we're working on new GMK update.

I want to remind of GMK Cut Scene Editor. It's available for all GMK version including T3D. I don't know how many GMK users are actually using this editor for their needs, but I'm willing to hear about new features you might want us to add to Cut Scene Editor in the future versions of GMK. Please post your suggestions right here or in the Game Mechanics Kit FORUM.

Cut scenes are important part of many modern computer games. Crisis, Doom3, Quake4, Call Of Duty use cut scenes a great deal. Onetime you want to introduce player with a new monster in a dramatic fashion, other time you need to show some action (the door is opening), which happens in response to a player use of a certain lever. Cut Scene Editor in conjunction with original GMK Editor makes these tasks a real cakewalk.

Features of GMK Cut Scene Editor:

- Create, edit and test camera fly-paths right within GMK Editor. You won't need to restart mission, reload editor or something. Just press "Fly path" button. You can add unlimited number of paths to a single Cut Scene object.

- Variable speed of camera movement. You can assign overall speed of movement in Cut Scene object, and change it in arbitrary fashion on each of path's waypoints.

- Interaction with other game objects. You can order another objects (NPC, Doors etc) play
different animations whenever camera reaches certain waypoint.

- Camera "look at" mode allows you to assign random fly path, but camera will always look at certain position or object. For example you can setup camera to always look at certain NPC's face.

- Sound or music can be added easily to support cut scene.

If you didn't hear about GMK yet, you can learn more at GMK's Developers Store Page. The GAME MECHANICS KIT is an add-on for T3D, TGEA and TGE that allows game designers to script and edit gameplay mechanics visually, not in code. Create your game with intuitive ready-made components. With a physics pack that allows for ragdoll editing and a cut scene editor, the Game Mechanics Kit enables novice game designers to make their own rich 3D games.

Perhaps I will buy this kit...

It looks like it will be a better solution than Verve for me as I don't need all the fancy stuff and I get the rest of the kit.

How does it compare to Verve?

As not to disrespect Yuri and the work he has put into the GMK, perhaps a Verve comparison would best be left for forum discussion?

Ok, I will ask the question inside the forum then.

I was trying to download the demo but it is telling me that it cannot find X3DAudio1_6.dll? Is it because I am using TGE and the demo is only for T3D? Can you please help me?

thanks

@Ivan Gris

You just have to update DirectX drivers.

Hi Yuri,

in the Show Off thread I saw a video from you including a player with a spot light. Is this player-mounted spot light functionality part of GMK, or is this possible by node and script editing in Torque3D itself?

I'm trying to mount headlights to a car, that's why I'm asking. If it is just a short piece of standard T3D code, it would be greatly appreciated ;-)

hello,
I was wondering how do I add this to my game in TGE, would like to test the cutescene with the game i am working on. I opened GMK and went to Open Mission and I opened the game I am working on but I get a pink screen...is there something I am doing wrong?
thanks

@Tobias
Spot-light is Torque feature, not GMK. It's coded in ShapeImage

@Ivan Gris
You got pink screen with your cut scene or just GMK installed?
Probably it's because camera placed somewhere in wrong position.
