Extended Introductory Price for pureLIGHT

Wow, Austin GDC was great. Got to finally meet a lot of Garage Games folks and Torque users in person. I have to say, you're a friendly group of people. Almost made me want to move to Austin until someone told me the weather that we were experiencing that week was on the "cool" side. All in all it was fun and informative.

While I was down there I realized that a lot of people have been waiting for Torque 3D to ship and even though we got a ton of praise and great feedback for pureLIGHT not everyone was ready to lay down their cold hard cash just yet. Knowing times are tight for a lot of indie devs out there we've decided to extend the introductory price for pureLIGHT until 30 days after Torque 3D 1.0 ships. That way we don't punish the devs that have been waiting patiently for that 1.0 retail to be released. So, until 30 days after T3D 1.0 ships pureLIGHT will stay at $350.00.

Had some great discussions with Brett and some others about promotional ideas and we came up with a few. Keep an eye out for a very cool contest with some killer prizes for T3D/pureLIGHT users. In the meantime, keep working on generating that fantastic looking content. Who knows, it may give you a head start ;)

David, that's awesome! I was planning on getting it at some point in the future, but I'll probably get it right after 1.0 is out. Steve "YorkshireRifles" Acaster's recent blog pretty much convinced me about its power.

I cant wait to hear more about that contest, it sounds very exciting!

PureLight really is awesome ... also makes arranging your game level in your favoured 3D modeling app a doddle, no more twisting and maneouvering things about in T3D trying to get it all to align, just export via PL and everything is where it should be.

It's encouraged me to use more complex geometry and a hell of a lot more lights.

Also watching PL bake is a thing of beauty.

Keeping the introductory discount until T3D-Day+30 sounds like a very good idea.

@Steve or David: Is it possible to do the reverse (take a level in T3D and import the whole thing in)?

Oh yeah, Purelight is simply amazing! I want it, I want it! I need to work (real work) and quit being so lazy, just so I can have it.

There's this one level in particular that just blows my mind :D

@Kenneth
I might have been just a little over expectant when I originally - and rashly - declared the plan to give up beer ...

@Tom
Gonna slide these onto Sickheda's Flickr?

@Joshua
I don't think it'll come through with it's layout intact, as the Torque.mis file is where it stores the transform info and not the collada model. PL writes a *.mis file for you to help keep transforms of all of the models in their original place.

I think that would be a useful feature even if it only grabs the geometry (not the lights) as it would save a lot of time if you want to quickly get a level in and start from there.

will there be an automated feature where you dont a=have to set up every piece of geometry manually? thanks.

Very good news.

I was planning to buy it (especially for what it seems to brought to T3D in Basic Lighting on Mac), but a little more time is welcome !

Thanks.

@Xerves

You can export T3D models as Collada and then import them into pureLIGHT. Keep in mind though you might want to run them back through your favorite 3D app to clean it up a bit. pureLIGHT is awesome, but can be kind of tricky if your geometry is suspect.

@David:

This is more for a zone that is tiled together from a bunch of different shapes instead of one single shape that is being used for the level. Sounds like I could arrange a level in pureLight and then export it out as a mission into T3D, just was curious if the reverse was possible as tiled zones are fairly useful in creating dungeons and various other zones and there are a few resources out there that create them.

@David, this is good news.

I plan on purchasing it, but I was waiting for a T3D 1.0 release. Glad to hear you understand us, and why we were waiting. I am very excited about using your product!
After reading Steve's comments I knew I would need it.

Good deal. I'm waiting because I'm still on a mission with some side jobs to fund my GD work for another year and I don't want to add this to the collection of things staring at me, taunting me to put away my work and... work. What I've seen so far has been impressive, and even at $500 it will still be more than worth it, but that extra $150 will indeed buy a few beers for me and my cronies.

We'll make it Canadian beer in your honor.

If you can get a Big Rock or Alexander Keith's then you are set for good Canadian beer.

This is on our list to buy. Just trying to race the clock and get our level built before 1.0 release date. Any chance of a further discount if we buy sooner than 1.0 release date + 30 :)
