It's been a long time since my last content pack release, the free uber update for the FPS Environment Pack.

This is the Enchanted Forest Environment Pack for Torque 3D and TGEA. It's my first content pack built for Torque 3D and TGEA, and I hope the community puts it to good use in their games and projects.

Demo Video Turn up your sound and enjoy the groovy music.

The pack includes 44+ art assets, Models, Terrain Textures, Particle and Sound Effects. Most objects have 3 levels of detail, Diffuse, Normal and Specular Maps.

The source art is included in Maya Binary, 3DS, FBX, OBJ, LWO, and DTS formats.

It also comes with playable sandbox demo environments for both Torque 3D and TGEA.

You can follow my other projects and see more screens on my blog HERE.

The Enchanted Forest actually began as a contract gig to design and create an environment for an online MMO being developed on the Torque Game Engine. I retained the rights to the art in return for a reduced hourly rate on the contract. A good deal for all concerned.

After the contract was wrapped up, the pixels and polys collected virtual dust while I moved on to other things. But eventually I came back around to it and started updating the art with normal maps and reworking a good portion of the content.

By the time it began to resemble current gen art content, Garage Games had their shiny new Torque3D engine going strong. This gave me an opportunity to learn the in’s and out’s of the next generation of torque tech. And I have to admit Torque 3D is pretty damn cool and come along ways since I first started using the Torque engine back around TGE version 1.2 or something like that.

There’s a dark side to the Enchanted Forest waiting to be packed up and ship along side it, but life is keeping me pretty busy right now, so that will have to wait a while.

I owe a giant debt of gratitude to Andy Maloney, without his help and contribution this pack would not have been possible.

I want to thank everyone at GG who are responsible for helping me get this done. Also, much credit goes to the crew at Mad Otter for the inspiration and opportunity that brought the Enchanted Forest to life.

And last but not least a big thanks to Jon Jorajuria for the sound fx.

-Todd

Great work as always, Todd. As an added bonus, I think the audio track gave me a flashback. It worked much better than my morning coffee.

Incredible pack! It's enough to inspire a fantasy based game all on it's own.

Great job, I'll pick it up just to show support - even though I don't have a suitable project.

@ Javier, ...I hate Smurfs, so I ate them.

@ Adrian, Thank you :O)

@ Max, I'm actually working on a large jungle environment, but I don't know yet if I will turn it into a content pack, it's really just a research project.

@Gareth, Thanks very much Gareth, glad you like it.

@ Matt, Thanks Matt, it's sort of WOW like I guess. I tried to hit a style that was a little cartoony, but not too cartoony.

@ Russell, you and me both, that's why I went with that track. :O)

@ Patrick, Wow thanks RJ! That's very generous of you. I hope you have fun with it.

@ J, Thank you! I'm still learning the ropes with movie maker, but it gets the job done.

That's a really nice theme that seems to fit together quite nicely.

Are the clustered shrooms separate models? Would be nice to be able to arrange them individually rather than the same arrangement in each occurrence.

Congrats on the release.

"Jeez, what the h. is that. You're not going to use it in the game are you?". That was a teammates comment to my idea for a crafter servant...

Seeing your enhanced forest, I got the idea for a -yes another idea- very small, neat and cute 'game'.

Just bought it -as always, neat work, and keep up the spirit Todd

PS: Wont go into details atm, but it's going to include...

Christian, LOL thanks very much I hope you really enjoy the content pack. I almost included a little gnome at one point, but ended up dropping it due to other work I had to focus on.

That is one crazy looking creature. It reminds me of a Japanese kappa with the liquid in the top of its head. ...That's its tail I'm seeing right?

Will this only work in the 3D games or is there some material in here that would work in "TGB" (Torque 2d) ? No problem either way :D
