Aegis ship finished “Go Navy”

We are pleased to announce that our projects Aegis missile defense navy ship model is now fully 100% skinned, today I received the finished model from the skinner and was able to get it into the project no problem, just a few minor tweaks need done on smoothing on groups that I will be adjusting but the model looks fantastic in game. So with no further delay here are some sneak peeks of the newly skinned ship.

Ships will also have custom number identification numbers on the side that we are implementing the decals for. The Skinner is now starting work on the city meshes and should have those skinned soon faster then it took the aegis ship to be finished. Enjoy and be sure to let us know what you think, this is Servo signing out.

The CIWS cannon doesn't look right to me -- but then they have changed over the years.
Other than that it looks good.

Needs some non-skid on that deck... and instead of one uniform color of gray, there should be two. Haze gray for the hull, deck gray for horizontal surfaces (the decks). Non-skid would be black and leave an 8 inch margin from all bulkheads & rails. The waterline needs more black too -- you should never see the red paint while it's in the water and loaded. The CIWS cannon doesn't look right to me -- but then they have changed over the years.

Also the Cannon is a recent cannon. worked from photo's, also this is a RTS defense simulator game. so there going to be a bunch of ships and if I put to much detail on the ship it will start to lag frame rates. right now keeping the meshs detail to a point where one can tell what type of ship it is. but not to much detail that would be needed for a FPS game.

the red paint and black are the same as on the real ship. working from pictures of a recent aegis crusier that was in dry dock. so the paint and line is at same hight as on the real one. Also the Cannon is a recent cannon. worked from photo's, also this is a RTS defense simulator game. so there going to be a bunch of ships and if I put to much detail on the ship it will start to lag frame rates. right now keeping the meshs detail to a point where one can tell what type of ship it is. but not to much detail that would be needed for a FPS game.

the red and black line are showing becouse the ship was not placed correctly in the map for taking the quick screenshots :P

It may just be the angle and perspective but it looks wrong.
Oh and put a catch screen around that landing pad:)
That is also a smooth sailing ship and kicks up one heck of a rooster tail! I think I may still have some pics.

It looks good but to be honest, it does not look proportional like it should. The bow needs to be longer and those white boxes fore and aft should be square not rectangle. It may just be the angle and perspective but it looks wrong.

Also I did the ship from Janes outlines and many differant blueprints so it is the right length. but I am willing to say that some parts may not be totaly correct since I could not take accurat mesurement of the real one.

White boxes for and aft you mean the SM-3 Verticle luanch tubes? if you mean the SM-3 Verticle launch tube the base of the support on the deck is slopped but the SM-3 Lids are Square like on the real one. Also I did the ship from Janes outlines and many differant blueprints so it is the right length. but I am willing to say that some parts may not be totaly correct since I could not take accurat mesurement of the real one.

I am guessing it is just the camera angle.

No the painted box as in this pic... I will have ask my brother what that is painted there for, he told me while I was on the ship but I can't remember unless someone else knows.[image]http://www.philippine-sea.navy.mil/site%20images/Photo%20Page/5inchtest.jpg[image]

Your ships look very good. The only thing maybe.. not more props.. you have enough, but some of the textures are to clean looking. Other than that, very nice.

If your using 3ds Max, i would suggest adding some mapping too..
Everything else is very well done!

How close will the ships been seen? For closeups they look not detailed enough.
