Plan for Tane Piper

Yep, I plucked up the guts to buy a Torque engine licence to make my game.

I am a game designer by day - but I also like to do it in my spare time and Torque makes this easier, even if I just use it as a prototype engine.

So what's my game then? Well, I really want to make a game based on the old 8bit game, "Barbarian".

"Barbaric Arena" is the name, and it will be a 3d update with more background plot. The synopsis is you are a warrior in the land of Morcharvia. It is a blood thirsty land, always at war. Many races live on Morcharvia - Humans, Orcs, Elfs, Lizardmen, and the warriors of these races travel around the land looking for riches and magical items.

Most large towns and cities have arena's of combat in which these warriors fight each other to the death. If you survive 3 rounds with 3 other warriors then you will win more gold and possibly a magical item.

You may also be asked to do "quests", such as fight a pack of wolves, or a Tarladian pit creature. These quests allow you to build your character up more, and win more riches and magical items.

Arena's will be quite rich environments with many obstacles and objects which you can use during fighting, and some arena's will be interactive. For example, there may be a level with a lava pit that you can knock your enemy in to.
