Edit: Excusez-moi! Forgot the title!

***Epic Random Ramblings***
In today's chapter:
The Timezone in the IRC Hour Announcement

La-la-lalala [Happy Tree Friends background music]

"Novack was running free on the forest, until he got tired and got back to his PC. He opened the browser, went to GG.com and saw..."

IRC hour!
3:00pm PST
(6:00pm EST)

[Carmina Burana background music]
Oh crap.

[Benny Hill background music]
Time conversion. PST or EST? Ok, lets just pick one... PST. Lets look what tha crap is PST... Ok, is GTM-8... OH! but are they now during daylight saving time? how do I can possibly now? that would be an hour of difference... So that would be 7AM or 8AM UTC (???). Finally, I live in GMT-3, so the IRC hour must be at 4AM or 5AM... I think this may be wrong.

...

I did that a couple of times, until I just got tired and simply stop assisting IRC hour.

Im curious about why you guys refuse to use UTC/GMT for scheduling events in a company that has customers all around the globe.

I mean, yes everyone should be responsible for making the conversion the right way, but you *do* detail different time zones for US habitants...

I actually dont mind about that, if you want, put detail in any time zones you want, even when it clearly bring confusion, but are you ever going to use UTC, GMT? Thats what UTC is for...

I might suggest using a very brief portion of the hour to give the status of GarageGames non-Torque3D engines with pending releases / updates:

1. TorqueX 3D 3.1
2. iTGE 1.0

That being said, I look forward to the Torque 3D updates and Torque 2D (alright, another engine I can buy :P)

actually almost no US businesses do that I have seen.

I have seen some plugins for joomla based sites where any time a time is input into a article "with the proper tags of course." it will always show the local time to the users. "using whatever time-zone they have in their profile."

perhaps something like that could be setup here.

no CST is -6 EST is -5 where is -3 iceland? oh, just check ur profile Argentina.

Yeah US is weird about time. One of only like 2 countries that use Daylight savings time and I think only 1 or 2 other use 12 hour time like we do. Daylight savings time sucks. But I hated being in Europe and everything being 24hr time. If they are going to do that they they need to either ban analog clocks or put 24 numbers on the face of them.

Actually, I didnt exposed the local part, that is a second layer of the problem.

Here in Argentina, we should use GMT-3 (real timezone) but due to gov regulations (local idiocy) we are at -2 (or was it -4?).

AND we also *do* use daylight savings, some random months per year, usually around the summer...

Hey guys, I'm guessing you're not using an IRC client. Grab something like mIRC here: http://www.mirc.com/get.html

Then just connect to the server: irc.maxgaming.net
Then choose the channel: #GarageGames

Many, many countries use daylight saving time although the dates when it applies vary quite a bit.

Quote:Today, approximately 70 countries utilize Daylight Saving Time in at least a portion of the country. Japan, India, and China are the only major industrialized countries that do not observe some form of daylight saving.
