Progress...

Well, life gets hard, as everyone knows. Getting married in Feb, trying to catch up on credit, working two jobs.

Relic Online is being pushed completely by my pal and team member Jarrod. It's slowly coming into view still. While the design document is pretty much done, we could add and revamp it more. I think we're going to leave it as be, and make changes as we work with the engine. Right now, the blueprints for towns and areas are being made, then it's off to the graphics.

I am wondering, for those who play mmo's out there, or have any opinion on them, would you rather play a "cartoon style" looking mmorpg, or one with great graphics? We're kind of torn between which way we should go still. Let me know in comments!

Also, the website is going to get redone for about the 9th time. I'm going to make it all flash, so it looks smoother. We're going to start a little preview/review for games and movies on the site as well. See how that works out.

With the DMS (document management system) and CMS (content management system), those are going to be done around November. I will post on here to get a few testers that wouldn't mind testing it out and seeing how it works, telling me where improvements are needed, and where to downsize on things not needed.

All in all, the graphics for Relic Online are going to be done by January 1, 2010. A long hard road is ahead, hopefully an indie game can actually push through again this time, unlike the many many failed attempts of many indie's.

i personally HATE cartoon style MMO games that SHOULD be more realistic. Like WoW, that game would have been much better if the graphics didnt look like my 4 year old niece made them.

I like either cartoony or realistic MMO's. However, MMO's usually have such a large world that it's hard to make one with great graphics without a large team. You could always go for something in between, which would be like WOW's graphics. An example of a cartoony MMO is runescape, inbetween would be WOW, and great graphics would be Oblivion(can't think of any MMORPGS that have great graphics)

The advantage of the cartoon style graphics is that you spend less time on one model and can put many more models into the game in total. (I'm considering indie development) Thus, there will be a object based detail in the game, which I prefer.
