I've been doing a lot recently, and i thought i'd update, and show you my latest, and greatest level.
Well in between all of my work, i've been doing lots of stuff from blowing up m66 firecrackers in tanks, to finnaly beating marble blast platinum. I even made a cool backdrop for my pc:

I am also happy to annouce i have joined a game development in my favorite position, of course level deigner. We are working on a project called war of today; a modern warfare mmorpg taking place in 2050's.
Speaking of levels, its time to unleashed my latest, and greatest creation:

That's right an island. Pretty small, but look the best i think. I'm eventually going to use this level in one of my projects using the FPS starter kit in TGE.

I am also going to try to learn c++. Yay me! Ill post a video soon.
Happy Late Fourth Everyone!
EDIT: Heres The Video.

Always like looking at your creations...you do have an eye for cool level design...add some cool machine gunner posts and watch tower with walls around on the mountain and you have a win!

VERY NICE!! I agree to add some ripples to the water. Also, some grass on the top of the hill would make it more realistic..because i'm not sure about you, but i haven't seen a mountain with sand on top before ;DAlways like looking at your creations...you do have an eye for cool level design...add some cool machine gunner posts and watch tower with walls around on the mountain and you have a win!

you might want to tone down the lense flare abit ... will look better if it's not that prominent... more transparent

very good Matt. You remind me a lot like myself when i was your age. Keep up the good work, I'm sure you will one day be a great programmer or game developer. Good luck!

You see, me being a mapper and all, there are a million things to do in a tropical scene to make it look/feel right.
Breaking up the sand texture with similar or rockier textures is a must.
Rather than the 'line' of trees approach, sometimes it looks better to have clusters of trees away from the line to break up the fine line.
Also gives it a more natural feel.
Same with the rocks, a group of ~3 rocks in variations look natural.
This really depends on the level, but having a hill behind the line of trees does great value to realize the scale of the map.
What you can do is get a picture of the tops of the trees, and place it on a quarter-sphere DTS shape and put that in the background.
I also mean having that 'much' farther back to make the map look big, and more importantly that the player is part of a small section of something that can be very big.
Also, the fog color seems to mis-match with the background.
Lastly, make very few trees stick out of the bunch and add bushes and grass to finalize the feel.
If you want to take this one step farther, put the trees in clusters and leave small 'sunlight' gaps in the forest. Once again, this is to break up the lines and make it a little more natural.
Just some ideas! Great work so far.
I look forward to seeing some more of your work. :)

Well I've got some constructive criticism for you. Not to be harsh, I'm really trying to help. You see, me being a mapper and all, there are a million things to do in a tropical scene to make it look/feel right.

Nice. You should use this map for like a mystery game or maybe a 3rd person adventure game

Put a bit of ripple/wave in your sea, it is a little glassy dead calm, doesn't have to be much, just enough to break up the surface a little.
And a few more textures in the terrain to help break up the overall sandy/brown colour would be nice too.
