It's time for me to start a project!

Hi all!
It's been a long time since I bought TGE.
During this time, I learnt a lot about designing games, modeling and animating for games, using the Torque tools, and Torque scripts (thanks to the starting kits and many good resources).
Today, I've decided to go to the next step and use all the things I learnt in the development of a game.
I don't want to go too fast, so I'll start by the basics and progressively add some new features.
My game is an online FPS with manga-style characters, fast action, in a cyber-punk universe.
This is a very brief description, but you'll see how the project evolve for more details ^^
I agree, it's a lot of work... That's why I'll go slowly but efficiently.
I've started the modeling of a very basic character. That will allow me to develop the first prototype: character moves w/ basic animations and a gun.

i hope that you upgraded to 1.5.2, lots of good changes, also recommend AFX as well for your base. even if you dont use the "afx" items there is a lot of additional fixes and bugs hunted in it :)

Of course I'll post some pics ^^
Yeah, I upgraded to 1.5.2, I also added the Modernization Kit (very nice!)
There's also a resource for adding normal maps support in TGE, but I don't need normal maps at the moment.
I thought AFX was just useful for creating visual effects for RPGs.
So, I'll have a better look at AFX, thanks for the info!
I prefer to start with basic characters and concentrate on the gameplay, not on the graphics... Once the gameplay is ok, then I'll concentrate on the graphics.
Same thing for the level design.
I think that by starting with basic elements, and adding details or some features later, you have a better control over the quality of the game. But it takes more time to its final release... That's my choice, anyway I don't work for a game company, this is a personal project, so I don't have deadlines ^^

yah AFX also comes with addition animations, script, code, that can be very very usefully in addition to the updated TGEA-based(read shaders) particle system in the newest version

What is the one I should use: AFX ComboPack or AFX CoreTech?
@Max:
- You can get the latest version of the TMK by clicking here.
Login: torqueUser
Password: tMK60152
Then download RELEASE152.zip
- TGE Normal Mapping ^^

well if you dont plan on using the actual examples.. just the engine technology.. the core tech is all you need, but i recommend the Combopack, as the extra spell examples really are nice (plus additional art)

Hum... I think I'll buy AFX later, when I'll really need it :)
I watched some videos about AFX, I think it will be very helpful for creating light effects for weapons, damage, ...
The result may be impressive I think.
