City Under Construction ( Part 2 )

So, I Was Thinking About My Next Project And What To Add. So i thought this time i would mainly focus on details. So I Sat Down, Ate A Grapefruit, and got started.

The Moment I Got This Project Started I Knew It Would Be A Long One. Finally, After Two Days, It's Done. If you read my first blog,(www.garagegames.com/community/blogs/view/176630 you all know what happened that made this "One Day" Project Take So Long. But now Its Finished, and i proudly present: Small Town, USA.

*Wild Cheering In Background*

So I Started With The Basics; Terrain, River, And A Couple Buildings:

Hold Your Horses, It Gets Better. So i said that i would focus on mostly details. So i decided to add road signs:

I Really like the shading on the models in T3D.

This Is My Favorite One.

Small Town
Population 335

The Funny Part Is Theres only like 5 buildings...

But, now on to more larger scale details: Vegetation.
I want to thank Matthew Jones for the trees. They're really nice.

Also if you notice that nice fence i made...

So then after that, i added more vegetation and terrain on the other side of the river, and that was pretty much it.

Whew! I'm Exhausted.

The Final Presentation:

I would of have added shops and stuff, but right now im trying to experiment with alpha channels in my models so i can do windows and stuff in my future projects. More on that in my next blog :)

Well I Guess that pretty much wraps up this project. If you liked the road signs and you would like to download them, see my resource:

Looks good (65 people per building is a pretty densely populated town). At 3 times your age, I wish I had half your ambition ;)

That river looks like it's got the cleanest water ever! Bottle and sell it! ;)

It's good to set yourself small challenges/projects as a test, and it's a great way to learn.

Pretty nice work Matt. It's already clean. Now you need to work on that terrain. See if you can adjust the grass texture to something a bit less repetitive.

I really like the "long project" of 2 days :)

keep the good work kid

Thanks For the comments All!

@Adam - Yeah, random numbers aren't my thing..

@Steve - Ha! Yeah, i wasn't really thinking about that!

@Maxim - Models Would Be Great! Right now I'm experimenting with lighting and trying to make some animated models, sort of like the undercity demo on the t3D page.

Nice city! It's great to see some other people under 15 making games! (I'm just 14)

If i may have my 2cents of suggestion: the best thing to do to make level look less like a bunch of models on a grassy block, is to get a few different ground textures and use multiple, rather than just 1 :D

example: (a project i am about to finish in TGE...i realy need to go to T3D :D )

@Maximillian - Yeah, i really didn't focus on ground textures in this project. I'll make sure i do that in my further projects. Right now I'm working on a advanced lighting level that has no terrain. Thats a nice level you got going there. :)

Good Luck With Your Games! Here's your two cents ;)
