Veks Public Alpha

Crossbones Studios proudly presents the first public release of Veks!

The game is playable in Windows and Linux, and has four playable game modes: Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, and Fox and Hounds. I'm hoping that you will find some bugs and post about them at http://crossbones.us/forums. The game is an ALPHA, that means that there are still important features that need to be added, and it is not to be considered a stable release. I will not be able to guarantee that I can offer any type of support for any problems you may have with this release, but I will do what I can to answer posts on the forums. I look forward to hearing your ideas, opinions, and most importantly, bug reports.

You may download Alpha 1.3 here.

Simply unzip the file onto your desktop or USB flash drive and you're ready to play.
Linux executables are included in this package.

EDIT: I changed the URL's, hopefully this avoids the 404 issue.

Your download link seems to be broken.

I tried the game for approx. 25 minutes in all. It has a strong tron feel to it which to me is a plus. Control of the cube handles smoothly and the difficulty at this point is challenging.

I think you have done a nice job to this point. Looking forward to further releases.

Ashley: I'm not sure why it's not working for you, I am able to download the file using Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Opera by clicking on the link. Sometimes my web host has a bit of an issue with pages taking a while to load, perhaps it's just taking a long time to serve the file?

Andrew: Thanks Andrew, I'm glad you liked it. I'm also looking forward to the future of Veks, it's getting better all the time.

Getting a 404 error on both of your links.

I'm completely at a loss to explain why that is happening. Have you tried browsing directly to crossbones.us? The top of the main page has a download link as well.

EDIT: Apparently GG's website is picky about using double quotes in the URL tags. Problem solved!

Nice game. That would be fun to play in a group. BTW links work now.

Wow, I was surprised how accurate the controlling was, blasting those bots was pretty fun. I didn't encounter any bugs.

Thanks everybody, nice to hear you enjoyed it. The smooth control was a bear to get working right but I'm very happy with the way it's turned out. As to multiplayer, which is what the game is designed for, I'm currently trying to find an extremely inexpensive host for a dedicated testing server but as of yet I haven't found a good option.
