vSide - 1000+ simultaneous users!

yesterday and today have been record-breaking in terms of number of concurrent users,
and today we finally broke 1000 simultaneous users !
about 60% of them are currently in private apartments, while the rest are spread through the three main public cities of vSide.
some of this, we figure, is due to school getting out,
but some is also due to the new release of hundreds of user-created clothing items.
note this was a pretty rapid release for us, just a month or so, but we managed to get a few features in:
* improved user tools for creating your own clothing
* "Shoutouts" to an in-world ticker, plus twitter and facebook
* publish your vSide events to facebook
* new private space "the warehouse lofts"
* improved invitation system
* misc improvements & fixes

a little more detail on server loads -
we have three "city" TGE servers which each host up to about 300 connections, and in this case were hosting at most about 200. the bulk of the users at any given time are in one of 26 "apartment" servers. there's also a small handful of users in one of two "gateway" servers, which is where brand-new users are dropped into. on the back-end we have three java boxes handling HTTP requests from users, and two handling requests from the TGE servers. at 1000 users, the back-end boxes are hammered fairly hard, but our next release should include an order-of-magnitude more capacity on the back-end.

Could you share more details on these servers? Are these rented dedicated host systems? If so, could you share details like from where and how much per month?

It is quite a lot of fun and I have to congratulate you on this milestone. Well done ... I will continue to take pictures and wander around vSide. :)

@Orion: I started using vSide at Beta 10 and it has seriously started growing on me. I am not really into the whole dancing and clubbing thing so I wander around the 3 areas looking for the various secrets and finds that are there while taking pictures of everything that I see.It is quite a lot of fun and I have to congratulate you on this milestone. Well done ... I will continue to take pictures and wander around vSide. :)
