When it comes to art I try to provide as many different quality art packs as I can. They can help save time and money as well as provide code centric teams with something pretty to look at during development. However, when it comes time to launch your game, you usually want custom art to help set your game apart. This can either mean hiring artists or contracting out the art work. Recently I was approached by Thanhda Tie, a GG community member who happens to be the owner of Digital Shock, an art outsourcing company. He wanted to see if there was a way that he could offer his services to the GG community and thus the 2D & 3D Contract Art page was born.

The 2D & 3D Contract Art page is just like our other product pages, except when you click the Buy Now button the page will forward you to a form that will help give Thanhda and his team the information he needs to help make a quote. All the people at Digital Shock are extremely friendly and prompt in getting back to people and finding something that will meet your budget without having to sacrifice the quality of art.

Digital Shock is a Toronto based company. They have a full suite of talented artists but are also looking into making their own game and possibly genre kits as well for the Torque community. They have worked with companies and games of all sizes giving them a good understanding of how to make great art assets at any budget. Digital Shock has been using Torque for several years now, meaning they fully understand the Torque art pipeline and can give you assets that can be plugged into Torque in a matter of seconds.

Give the 2D & 3D Contract page a look and have a conversation with Thanhda and his team. I'm sure you will find they can help make your game world shine without breaking the bank.

I really like the concept of a nice and accessible avenue to art here - I'll give it a whirl sometime soon, I hope.

That's a great service they're providing. They have an awesome portfolio. All I need is a game that requires their service :D

Nice art. They should post some kind of approximate prices in order to have an idea on the prices for static items, characters, animation and others.

Very good initiative, but prices approximation with/without animations would be very useful.

Another question : the same models are present here :

www.digitalshock.net/east/index.html in the "02. Original" gallery

and here : www.blackbowsoft.com/3dgallery.html in the "Others" gallery.

Who made these models, and what is the link between DigitalShock which is based in Canada, and BlackBow Software which is a China based company ?

Quote:Digital Shock Network officially kicks off its eastern headquarters, known as Digital Shock East. After years of association with BlackBow in the east, Digital Shock decided to partner up and open an official North American office in which brings eastern work into the western market.

@Nicolas
Under Events, it talks about our joint venture. Digital Shock East Network is BlackBow's in North American.

Digital Shock East Network is a combined force of Blackbow Software and a internal team of Digital Shock Central. We are currently under the works of having All BlackBow's US clients be re-directed to Digital Shock East Network(URL Wise), by setting a region setting on, or a Manual Region Settings. Initially Digital Shock East Network was suppose to be called "BlackBow North" but later we agreed to keep it under the Digital Shock name.

Hope this clears some questions.

Good to know. I have used Blackbow (in China) in the past, and was happy with both the price and quality of their work.

I suspected this sort of association.

It's even clearer now. Thanks for your explanation.

This is great. So is GG going to add a page for each of the other artists who wish to offer their services?

Those are some great looking models. Texturing isn't bad either. :)

@Joe
At the moment we have an exclusive rights with GG for a certain time period. After that time period expires, we may re negotiate a contract, or make it open for other artist firms to join.

Good to hear Devin. Digital Shock East Network is proud to represent Blackbow in North America, and will bring a few new additional services that BlackBow Soft did not offer. Bringing enhanced qualities in sectors that they lacked on in the past. Some may be including enhanced quality 2D art, texture work, and even more game engine specific exporting and scripting. As well as we do have some higher level artist available on call, for any high budget projects. We may be soon offering a motion capture option for bigger budget studios. Any pre-existing clients will be redirected back to Blackbow in the east unless required services from the North.

So does that mean GG will not allow other artists to post about their services?

@Joe
We have already signed an agreement for exclusive rights for a certain time period. This is a legally binding contract so in short, not at the current moment. You are more then welcome to offer your own Art packs to the community, or at the very least promote your services on blogs or forums. No one is stopping you there. :)
