An iPhone App a Day - for 30 Days

Sometimes, you just gotta do something a little crazy.

No, not like doing body-shots off your uncle Henrick.

Something crazier.

I submit for your approval - An App a Day, for 30 days. I have decided out of a stroke of insanity (or possibly just from a stroke) to create and submit to Apple an iPhone App each day for the next 30 days. And for most if not all of these, I will be using the iTGB game engine.

I will be posting the rules I intend to follow tomorrow as June 9th is the first day of this personal challenge to myself. Keep up with me here: app-a-day.blogspot.com/

And if anyone has any coffee/Red Bull/Amp... feel free to send it my way. I suspect I'm going to need a lot of it.

This is crazy... Are you looking for application donations by chance?

@AndrewOsborne, @Konrad Kiss, @Tuomas Kaukoranta: Thanks, guys! This should get interesting, no doubt! :)

@Novack: You think I'll make it 7 days? I hope I make it THAT long! ;)

@Patrick (RollerJesus): Crazy like an iron window. I'm not accepting applications, but I am accepting application ideas.

Tic Tac Toe
Connect the Dots
Flash cards
A top that a swipe would get spinning.
Building Blocks
Particle fireworks - tap for effect.

Fun stuff. I had a goal for an app a week for a while. I'm on 3rd app submitted in 7 weeks.... didn't quite make it!

A game a day?

It takes me about an hour at minimum to make a game template.

Another 10 hours to make a prototype (if I'm lucky), 30 hours to make the graphics (again... if I'm lucky), and another few hours to paste it together.

Since this hasn't been updated for awhile... while I didn't get to 30 apps in 30 days, I did get to about 6 apps in 2 and a half weeks. The overwhelming amount of feedback and responses from the experiment resulted in so much contract work that I didn't have the time to release any more games!

But now, 2 years later, I can say that I have made a profit off those games, which I in total didn't spend more than about 12 combined hours on. Profitable games don't need huge development cycles - they just need lots of caffeine and a few crazy ideas! :)
