Yea so, a bit light this week, but that's in part because I realized while compiling entries that I included stuff from last Friday in last week's Reading, which I shouldn't have done (cut-off is Thursday at midnight). Ooops.
Journal Land Pick of the Week
Big Trouble In Little Chairtown - Drilian has two more installments in his Networking Is Hard series, where he goes into the process of creating network code for an arcade shooter. In part 2 he discussed the networking design, and in part 3 he goes over the three main hurdles of networking
From the Staff
* Gaiiden's Scroll - This week's sitrep: counting down to 10 years of GDNet; E3 coverage; new book audio chapter; GameX participation; New resources, events
Project Updates
* The Bag of Holding - ApochPiQ has opened up the Google Code site for Epoch, to be filled with R7 code once it's ready. Speaking of R7, he has made plenty of progress along the way towards its immenent release.
* Happenings with VBStrider and Crew - the weekly newsletter shows Loradon 3.0 progress climbing to 79%; pcoming collision detection demo; new artwork on the artist's easel; community spotlight
* Mark the Artist Messes Around - Prinz Eugn teams up once againg with Sir Sapo to produce a top-down vertical scroller. He shares early game details, artwork, and his refined versions of Sir Sapo's passable attempt at pixel art (better than I could do I will admit). He's also got me thinking about getting back into model building as well.
* Journal of matt_j - matt_j has a new build of his game VRTank up for download. Check it out for some vector arcade goodness.
* Radioactive-Software - dgreen02 has more huge and shiny images of Warbots Online, which is nearing completion. Where are the beta test signups?
Game Dev Stuffs
* Merry Prankster Games - gdunbar shares more article/blog links, this time on graphics programming from Shamus Young, cursed items in RPGs from Rampant Coyote, and "addiction based design" from Jeff Vogel
* The Code Zone Bargain Basement Blog - johnhattan lists various technologies for developing on the iPhone as he decides how best to do so. Covered tech is: Objective C, Torque, FlashGap or Appcelerator Titanium, Haxe for iPhone, and Unity3D. Did he miss any?
* iHero - darkpegasus is looking for "sample code about how to use NSURL or something similar to make HTTP requests on the iPhone] He found some via Google to get him started, which he shares, but is still working on it.
Other Stuffs
* Any Colour You Like - benryves shares the C# source code for his remote control signal decoding software
