Foundations of Hope: Pre-Alpha 2.59 notes

Haven't posted in awhile, been rather busy but mainly wanted to wait until this last patch was completed to post updates.

Game Name: Foundations of Hope Online
Technology: TGE + Torque MMO Kit

Highlights:
-Most of crafting is done by harvesting trees, rocks, mushrooms, etc...
-Crafting system redesigned. Have to first Blacksmith metal ores axeheads, rods, etc. Have to Wood Craft logs to handles, shafts, etc. Have to use Chemistry to make items need in Poison Crafting.
-Armor Crafting implemented. Over 2000 craftable items.
-Dragon and animal Armor Crafting implemented.
-Weapon Crafting totally revised. Now have 64 different unique weapon models equalling 768 craftable weapons.
-Implemented new Dragon and animal Weapon Crafting. Dragons now have unique weapon models.
-New Archery Crafting system implemented.
-Poison Crafting implemented. 100 craftable poisons.
-Added a Second Dragon class.
-Implemented color coding of NPCs based on their task. This modification is on Map, Tracking Window, and name above them. Vendors are darker blue, Trainers are gold, Quests are Purple, Harvestable items are green. Also implemented new filters to not see harvestable items, and the specific NPCs based on their category.

-Moved Boat Master in Bayou closer to Bayou/Great Wall entrance.
-Changed Mackinac and Everglades to Bayou zoning location to be by Boat Master.
-Moved Saurian Bayou to Mackinac transport sign by Bayou Boat Master.
-Removed requirement of only Paladins can enter Spiritual Warfare realms. Now restriced to only Humans.
-Changed zone login location going to/from The Troit and The Troit SW zones so you don't land on sign post.

-Added sounds when harvesting and mining.
-Modified Blacksmithing skills level to coincide with armor and weapon crafting levels needed.
-Added Wood Crafting skill. Used to make shafts, staves, short handles, long handles out of logs from trees.
-Added Wood Vendor Chuck(human) by The Troit Forge.
-Added Wood Vendor Klog(saurian) by Everglade Forge.
-Removed Apprentice, Journeyman, Master Smithing Hammer. Only Smith hammer now.
-Removed Apprentice, Journeyman, Master Fletching Kit. Only Fletching kit now.
-Changed Global chat to now say Global:
-Added more loot to Rocks and Trees. Should get loot more often.
-Changed Blacksmithing recipes.
-Lowered Blacksmithing Sheets from 8 to 6 ores needed.
-Increased many crafting items stacking max.
-Changed the whole Weapon and Animal Crafting items and system. Alot more craftable weapons.
-Changed the whole Archery Crafting items and system.
-Increased Archery Ranges. ..
-Increased Archery damage times 5.
-Crafted weapons have new models.
-Gave Enchanter and Scouts spells like Beast Masters and Rangers. Added scrolls to Enchanter in Everglades.
-Fixed bug in config file patching if you change key bindings.
-Added new Dragon Weapon models. Will create more later.
-Added new Shield models.
-Added more tree types and moved locations around. Check map in forums.
-Modified Grand Canyon enter/exit location. Now on east side near Dragon merchants on bat cliff.
-Made it so that all Human and Saurian classes can Armor and Weapon craft during test phase.

-Removed the auto-RvR code to see if causing zoning/dieing stuck issue.
-Armor crafting! No new textures though.

-Added a R button on map to filter Resources off or on.
-Added a Q button on map to filter Quest NPCs.

-Changed resources(rocks and trees) to show up as green on the map.

-Weapon and Archery crafting totally modified toward harvesting the resources from trees and rocks.
-Modified all the water critter levels to go 75 to 100 temporarily. Added Kraken(100) to Gulf of Mexico.
-Modified Great Wall location greatly. Zone is now split more evenly between Saurian and Human camps.
-Added Oak and Maple trees to Great Wall
-Added Oak, Maple, and Pine trees to The Troit
-Added Pine and Maple trees to Mackinac
-Added Pine and Maple trees to the Mountains
-Added new Copper mine to The Troit. On other side of river by rats.

-Removed Bayou Dungeon access from the Bayous. No longer needed.
-Added Chromium Veins to Black Forest. Iron and Chromium equals Tempered Steel.

Things to do later:
-Add in resource filter on map. Trees and rocks clog up the map. Turn of NPC for now to remove them.

Pre-Alpha 2.55 2-4-2009
-Added copper vein in Grand Cayon. North of starting location past bats
-Added Dragon Tool Vendor to Grand Canyon(by the copper vein)
-Added Dragon Craftor Vendor to Grand Canyon(by the copper vein)
-Moved Dragon Dragonling Template NPC closer to Dragon Starting place in Grand Canyon.
-Moved Dragon Cub Template NPC across waterfall from starting location.
-Added Forge to Grand Canyon(out by copper vein).
-Made /disenchant items now sellable(only for test phase) so Disciples can make some money.
-Removed Dragon Nutrients being looted from Harvesting items(rocks, trees) and Human and Saurian mobs.
-Increased Player's Primary and Secondary damage and lowered mob's damage. Higher critters were still very hard to fight alone. Only modified for testing phase so players can solo.
-Fixed the Gulf of Mexico drop off area.
-Changed Bank image.
-Fixed some zone descriptions in Encyclopedia.
-Modified most of the Bayou spawn levels including Brent and Ethan Monster. Added more spawns to Bayous.

-New downloadable client has the chat window location at proper location. Only for new players.
-New downloadable client will have Map and Party Windows open by default for new players.
-Bayou Dungeon, New York, and Gulf of Mexico should not have rain or weather changes.
-Fixed Desert Beetles giving random loot and will now be aggro against Dragons.
-Added Swimming Items Dealer in New York to get scuba mask. For all Realms.
-Added Gulf of Mexico zone. Swim south of Bayous to enter.
-Swimming is slooooow! Will look at ways of speeding that up.
-Added critters to New York and Gulf of Mexico. All are level 30 for testing purposes.
-Fixed Scout Call of the Wild not being able to be used.

-Implemented different starting zone per Realm. Humans start in The Troit. Saurians start in Everglades. Dragons start in Grand Canyon. Only effects new users that do not have accounts.
-Implemented code for Harvesting skills(Foresting, Mining, etc..) Code only. Nothing yet available.
-Removed random names from animals.
-Added random Human and Saurian NPC's to get random names.
-Modified lower animal levels and changed what animals are in The Troit, Everglades, and Grand Canyon zones.
-Moved The Troit bind stone closer to town where two paths now meet.
-Added bind stone to Everglades, Grand Canyon, and New York.

Pre-Alpha 2.49 10-14-2008
-Added New York zone. Go all the way through Mountains zone to get to it. Nothing there, just a passway zone to the Everglades for now.
-Added Everglades. Nothing there. Just getting ready to be the Saurian main location.
-Added Lansing. Is now in the between Greatwall and Mackinac. Nothing there.
-Added Paladin Complex. Follow path to the west of Lansing. Just buildings there so far.
-Added new path out of The Troit to the East that goes to Lansing.
-Yes making a world map next.
-Starting to reorganize building files into zone.zip files. So will have large patches coming up as files get moved around.

Pre-Alpha 2.48 10-4-2008
-Started Grand Canyon zone. All the way across the Desert. Try accessing zone with a different realm character than your good character. Testing the issue we had with the Great Wall not loading on some computers.

Pre-Alpha 2.47 10-3-2008
-Fixed pets from flying. They should stay and follow on the ground.
-Added 30 second log back in timer to help people think if they really want to logoff and back on to regain their skills.

-Added one weapon model for all Dragon weapons. Will add more later.
-Added Dragon helms.
-Added Dragon Heavy Armor Vendor in The Troit. Only has helms.
-Fixed the Cobalt crafted weapon prices.

Pre-Alpha 2.44 9-22-2008
-Added Dragon Mounts for Level 60+ characters. Make believe you see your Human or Saurian character in the saddle :) When skill is maxed you get increased speed, 2500 HP, and flying abilities.
-Removed Cancel Flying when attacking, using Archery, and spells.
-Dragon Mount skill can gain 1 point from 60 to 70.
-Need to add animation calls for flying/attacking and flying/casting now
-Need to figure out how to stop dragons and dragon mounts entering buildings.
-Need to stop pets from being called from Dragon Mounts. Pretty funny though.
-Increased Adult Dragon fly times to 10 minutes to match Dragon Mounts.
-Added Dragon Speed skill for Adult Dragons. Can gain 1 point from 60 to 70.
-Added Dragon Teen Speed skill. Can gain 1 point from 45 to 55.
-Added Dragon Cub Speed skill. Can gain 1 point from 30 to 40.
-Dragon NPCs can now fly.

Pre-Alpha 2.43 9-19-2008
-Added Saddled Saurian Beast to Great Wall.
-Added ability to restrict skills based on Gender.
-Implemented Mount skill for testing for level 30+ characters. Only increase in health and speed as you go from level 30 to 50. So you will start off slow and be the fastest if your skill is 20 at level 50. No human or Saurian model added at this time so you only see the mount.
-Expect ALOT of changes do to mounts(removal or lowering of speed buffs, skill modifications, Animals possibly getting crits back, etc..)

When I seen this I was like cool wonder how they pulled off a Christian MMO, but after reading!

What part is Christian?

The more proper term would be Christian-acceptable. I've pulled out any "magic" spells and Humans instead use Spiritual Gifts. When Humans use these abilities is says "Character Name begins praying." There will be some Biblical references from where those abilities are coming from. The lizard and dragons use a more scientific ability of psionics to achieve similar functions. The Humans also have Spiritual Warfare realms that can go in. There is chat censoring in place(which isn't Christian but more for the teens). There are also many little things I have to continue evaluating as I put in the game to make sure it isn't too Christian as well as not Christian offense. A very narrow road. Is it overtly in your face Christian? No. You could play a Saurian or Dragon and never know there were Christian references. There is quite a label people assume when they see it is a "Christian" game that I have to unfortunately battle, but I also don't want people thinking I "tricked" them and find Biblical references so I keep the label for now.

It's cool seeing the dragons with weapons. A read a series of books years ago about "battledragons" and I sometimes toy with the idea of a game that has mountable/ridable dragons that wield 10 ft swords and tail maces.

Looks like things are shaping up all-around -- keep at it and good luck!
