Digital Lightstorm will now use Torque 3D for our games!

Welcome again one and all!
Just a small update. As of Thursday April 23, 2009 we are now a part of the Torque 3D group. We are planning to use Torque 3D to bring you our game Beyond The Abyss, so we have since somewhat stopped production on it and awaiting a stable release to build the game from (which could be a while but that's ok).
While we wait, we continue working on the basic story of the game and test levels inside TGEA for now. If we see it's going to be longer then expected, we might just finish off the version in TGEA and release it in place of porting it over since we have a good half of the game done in TGEA anyways now.
Our game lineup is about to grow as well as we have plans... big plans at making a quality racing game off the T3D engine and the new racing kit, plus, new Towers game is in the making but more on Towers later... Thanks for reading...

Thanks man, looking forward to the move hopefully later this year to make Dallas a long time home for the game stuff.
Quick question: When do you know it's better to finish a game if your about 40-50% done with it rather then convert it all over to the new engine? I'm about 50% if that, done with Beyond the Abyss, my game I'm working off and on in my spare time between my day job and content packs. I was building it in TGEA 1.8.1 but want to port it over to the new T3d but it could be months off from a stable 1.0 release. Any thoughts on this prob I'm facing? When do you know it's time to pull back and just wait for a stable release vs finishing it in an older engine? Thanks for the feedback man.

There will always be better technology or improvements that can be made to your game. If you spend your time chasing the mythical perfect tech you'll never get the game done and it will drag on for years.
Save it for your next project.

My suggestion is to stick with what you got and not convert it over. Its not worth derailing your project and its timeline. There will always be better technology or improvements that can be made to your game.
