Greetings GG,

My name is Justin Mayhew and I am creating my first game called "The Demons of Corrath" or TDoC for short. TDoC is a 2D RPG/hack'n'slash.
I can hear the deep cello tones of the music in my mind, I can see my main characters knuckles gripping down on his blade hilt, eyes narrowing in hatred... And I can't wait anymore.
I have been studying game art and design independently for a year now, and finally (FRIGGIN FINALLY!) I am at a point where I have the knowledge I need to start crafting my game. Its happening, I have been dreaming about this since I was a kid. In fact I used to use crayons and paper to make my own "cut out" games when I was little. I looked up at the screen playing the "Legend of Zelda" and felt the little hairs on my neck rise. It's my turn now.

So lets dive in, shall we? Right now I have the first version of my game design document that will get me through the setup of level 1. However, the storyline and future levels have been stacked in there places to allow expansion when I get there. I am heeding the advice I have been given by others; "just start with one level."
As the concept art above illustrates, the storyline follows the path of Onyn. He is the hooded character wielding a sword and fireball. I am starting there, creating my art resources leading up to the title screen displaying him.

So far, its just me on my own. I am using TGB of course, and using Photoshop CS3 for my art. I have been diligently hammering away at Torquescript as well, and I feel confident I can set up what I need to get the game play going. Yet, I have quite the workorder in front of me. I will not be defeated.

Stay tuned, I'll be updating the blog every few weeks to note my progress. Many thanks to my friends and family (especially my wife) for their support.

Best of luck! Ask questions when you get hung up with the TorqueScript and there's usually someone there to help you out.

Work is progressing normally, I'm trying to get my opening icons set up upon game activation. Soon after that I can pound out the title screen. Thanks to all those who have added their insight.

Hey Justin, I remember that at the last indie game night you said you were looking for a programmer to do some art for, I have a friend who has just started working on a game and is looking for an artist to team up with. You still looking? Let me know, my email is dariuou at yahoo dot com.
