Game development for the unknown

Greetings, my name is Alexander.

I thought I'd post about my experience about game development for this year, so far that is.
What I mean with "Game development for the unknown" is that I believe that there are many game developers out there that do have great potential to become something big in this industry. Sadly these developers are not found or maybe even doesn't have the will to develop games.

I have been thinking about how to change all this; to make the developers stick around for development but of course with no real answer :)
I'm coming "straight from college" and from what I've seen is that students are at the beginning very interested in software development for <insert platform> but once they are done in school they have lost interest and wanna do something else.

My first game got finished just a few days ago for iphone and ipod touch, well good enough for a first release - I always feel that there is something to change and make better. Such a great feeling though, to have it finished.

But as I said, I'd want to talk about my experience regarding game development.
Wow, even the most simple game requires so much more thought and programming than I even could imagine. My game is rendered in pure OpenGL (ES) so that part maybe wasn't that hard but the game logic itself was a lot harder than I thought to get right, lesson to be learned; plan more ahead :)

Oh and a tip for everyone, try to be fast on filling out the contracts on itunesconnect if you're making a ipod touch/iphone game for the AppStore ^^

(Note to self: Don't write blogs after a bit too many beers)

You're trying to drum up support to storm the headquaters of EA, Activision, Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo with the express intention of putting every executive to the sword?
