Plan for Justin Mette

Phase Two officially started on November 5th and the first week was absolutely exhilarating! The main focus for the week was on detailed requirements for what is being dubbed as the "GDC Release" of Myrmidon. Our goal is to have a playable demo of Myrmidon that shows off the key features of the game by March 19th, 2002. This is an aggressive deadline when you consider we have so much yet to learn, but we also feel strongly that the GDC is a great opportunity to network and having a playable version of your game with you when you go, only aids in that endeavor.
With 100+ man hours spent on the requirements, we feel they are in pretty good shape to start building a project plan. There is a 97.82% chance we will be adding/removing/modifying content in the document throughout the phase, so its time to shift focus to the project plan in order to size up the resources needed to meet our lofty goals. From this plan, we hope to identify how many more people need to be added to the team in order to meet the deadlines (or sacrifice features - blech).
The art team has also started to focus on creating some final concept art for a Myrmidon Soldier, a Terran Soldier, the alien bug creatures, and the different Weapons & Items in this phase as well as the Research Station interiors for the first mission. More meetings during this upcoming week will start to drill deeper into the vision behind the game in defining the detail required to create model sheets.
Finally, the 21-6 Web Site has been updated with some public information about the game. As some definition of the game starts to gel, we decided to release as much solid information as we have. On the site is a quick overview of the game along with some early concept art on which the final model sheets are being derived. There is still a lot of information about game play that we hope to add over time and as the game continues to shape up.
Oh yeah ... and only 3 more days till XBOX. Needless to say, I'll be doing some "research" on Thursday ... and probably Friday :)
