Creating Game Art for 3D Engines (book)

Creating Game Art for 3D Engines is a book that explains in step-by-step detail how to create and import game art into the Torque game engine and bring it to life. Run cycles, rigging a humaniod, rigging a robot, unwrapping character meshes, texturing pickups, modeling a character or a building, it's all there. 3ds Max 8 is the package used to create the art, and all of the finished art is provided on the book CD, which also contains 90 minutes of video tutorials to give extra-clarity in difficult areas such as how to rig/skin the character.
Getting the game art into the engine goes into the nitty-gritty of how to solve issues like when your character's footsteps do not appear in-game, when you can't get the Levels of Detail models to work right, and when your animations aren't exporting properly.

Yeah, I wrote it in 2007, it was published in October, 332 pages, 241 full-color figures.
List price is $49 but the Amazon price is usually about $32.
There is a video tutorial on how to get all of the finished art into Torque in about five minutes for those who want to do that.
I have a page that goes into lots of detail here:

Sorry, I know of no book that covers both Maya and Torque.
Your best bet may be finding a book you like that covers just Maya, and then putting together your own notes on exporting and scripting by combing the GG website tutorials as well as the forums.
