Hurry hurry hurry, step right up for the grand opening of Digital Lightstorm Studios newest attraction yet... The Rollercoaster Construction Kit! Opening this summer, 2009 and will feature coaster track segments of all kinds to actually build your own coaster.

right now the images below are still in alpha stages but it's slowly coming together. I've always wanted to make something like this, so I decided to late last year. I'm shooting for a early to mid summer release for the kit which will feature track pieces of all kinds, a set of train stations you can swap out between and rollercoaster ambient sounds.

All models will ** NOT ** be working as far as moving, these are just going to be for filler space in levels at a far. My plan was to actually, eventually build a working coaster model but right now my goal is just to get the pack up and rolling for eye candy looks and make your scene come to life a bit more then usual.

The shots below are just from the wheel assembly unit on the train I'm currently working on. It features 29 overall pieces just to make this part of the train, and it being the wheel assembly, it usually features the most parts to the train then any other part of the coaster unit.

I've been around coasters all my life, we used to goto Magic Mountain in Cali at least once a month, I loved that park. My dad also loved theme parks too so this pack is dedicated to my late pop who passed this past November, 2008. I hope the love of my efforts shows off some in the images... remember these are not yet textured, I'm just using a filler texture for the shots just to get me up and running, and later when I design all the textures from scratch, I'll add them and show them off when it's ready. Oh and BTW, this wheel assembly took me roughly 2.5 weeks from start working on it off and on during that time between my day job.

I'm figuring it will be released Summer 2009 around a July 4th release date is what I'm hoping for right now anyways... could change, will let you know as I get more into the pack...

In the shot above, you see the size figure I place for TGE/A sizing as I design this to make sure scale is right on the money. That size marker will be included too in the pack.

That's about it. I don't have a price set on the pack yet so I'm open to ideas for a price for it. What do you guys think something like this may sell for? I was guessing as a starter bid, about $35 or near that but am open to ideas on it. What are YOU willing to pay if you was to buy this pack? Not sure as far as exact numbers go but I figure by the looks of my testing, it could feature upwards of 30 track pieces in all, 2-3 stations and 1, maybe 2 coaster trains depending how hard it is to make one as I'm working on the first train car now.

Hopefully soon I will have more shots for this to show off, til then, be safe and may all your dreams come true...

sounds good. It's good to get your art assets done first then you can figure out how to make a moving cart, and keep it on the track :) Will be watching this develop.

This is going to look awesome. Getting the coaster moving will be the easy part. Just modify wheeledVehicle. The tricky part is keeping it tethered to the track. (and those pulled cars will need special coding love)
