Playing with ideas (Cubed Post 1)

For a few years ago I stumbled upon a site where the owner started off a set period of time with presenting a game idea. He then followed up this with regular updates, until finally presenting a basic game design at the end of the period. Even though the fruit of such a labor might not be commercially viable, it could still work as a point of inspiration for other designers to design their own games.

Now even though I might not have the time that the guy had. I was planing to make this a some what regular posting. I was planing to have my deadlines correspond with my monthly paycheck. But with this date only 10 days in the future, I think I will have this one run for two periods. so here's for 27 February!

Genre: Puzzle game
Platforms: PC/Mac, console and handheld.

The Idea:
For those of you that played games back in the old days, your sure to remember a game called "Pipes".

You had to place a series of pipe sections to form a closed circuit in order for some green goo to flow from point A to B.

Now imagine doing this on the outside of a cube, where not only the outer surface is your play field. But the inside as well.

Even though this idea is not original, it could still present some nice game play.
The reason I chose this idea as a first start, was to start soft.

Well that should be enough to spark your thoughts. I will see you in about a week, where I will post the first draft of a design.

This was Post 1 of Design 1.
