Was checking blogs and forums on the GG and was surprised by a new look... where is all of the features, that i am using over a years... where is nice community page?? where is my dev snapshot?
all of this goes to hell? no tutorials, no email about changing that stuff - only on blog post... so GG about what r us thinking :(((
as i see, more and more ppl disapointd by GG moves and slowly, but community comes down, many of the my friends was here, goes to another, more friendly communities... i want back good old loooking GG, or please make an option in the settings, where i can disable new theme of the site...
fully disapointed

and prove it out before you drop it on your community.
A serious lesson learned from working with online communities over the years.
Test the waters first, let the community play with it and help fine tune it before you just blast the community over to it. (just like mmo games that have a test server for playing with upcoming patches, same concept).
But anyway, the site does have a sort of generic cold feel and a lot less of the cool indie feel it once had, however it is fast, loads very quickly and parts are a lot easier to read at least.
Anyway you guys will probably get it all corrected eventually but please take a lessons learned from this about doing things like this to your community.
as usual rock on guys.

glad to see you guys are working on it and posting a lot of the "its not done yet" but I still stand by my point that for something major like this, where you are going to completely revamp something it is much better to run a parallel "beta" type site with the new style and changesand prove it out before you drop it on your community.

I like the new site. Way to go GG!

I also loved the previous account page with its funny icons for each section of the account. I also liked to quickly see my posts so I was able to search for any responses.
Now that is gone ... now we get just plain and cold text and tabs and serious icons.
Really looks like somebody is trying to show torque as the kick@$$ serious engine for serious developers. Like trying to give the engine a serious attitude and giving Garage Games a corporative attitude. Its like trying to tell everybody that GG has now grown up and its a big serious company now... I cant explain...
At least for me that is not working. I used to have the GG page as my default page when opening IExplorer. Now I have gone back to Google... that bad it is for me.
You may say that many tools and some search capabilities have been improved but of course you can do the same without breaking the other half of the site so its not a valid excuse in this case. You can add paypal support without breaking other things.
Its not the tools or how to move in the site. Its the feeling. Its like going from a funny cozy place to an office building. I used to enter the old website about 5 times each day eager to find a new blog post (I really enjoy reading blogs) or maybe be of some help in the forums. I wanted to be helpful to the community. Now I really dont want to log in except to search something in the DB.
Of course thats just my opinion and Im sure GG is not going to back on this just to please me. Some people may like it (or maybe just say they like it) but its just not woking for me.
Luck!

I dont like the design. Of course Im a programmer so you may discard my comments but this new design looks really cold and corporative. The previous one with any yellow colors looked more friendly... it was warm and felt more like a place where you may gather and read things. I also loved the previous account page with its funny icons for each section of the account. I also liked to quickly see my posts so I was able to search for any responses.

I'd go to garagegames.com, click on "Community" and see screen shots, latest blogs, latest employee blogs, topics I was following, hot/recent forum threads.
Now, not so much.

Now it's hard to navigate and it has lost it's welcoming feeling. I have a sense that I will be visiting garagegames.com a lot less.

The new site layout really discourages me from logging in here to check the blogs and forum posts. The "What's New" page will be greatly missed, as it was a page I went to at least 10 times a day.Now it's hard to navigate and it has lost it's welcoming feeling. My opinion is you should welcome change.
The new forums kick ass, I am defaulted to the products I own. These comments kick ass, hell, it even tells you what posters are Torque owners!
Give GG time man, this new site is GREAT!

Having all of the comments on a blog, or in the forum, on the same page was more productive than having several pages, each of which automatically scroll to the top of the blog.
I've been around awhile, and I've seen the previous iterations of the GG website. I've seen the functionality improve. I've also bookmarked dozens of pages, and those bookmarks don't work. I've also browsed resources that no longer have download links they had before. Stuff is missing.
I am glad for the new search functionality, but I don't like the format the search results are presented in.
I also want to edit posts. Please give that functionality back.
More screenshots are better than less. Please put those sections back in, as well as the dev tracker and other features people mentioned. A new look and new functionality are great, but please don't remove popular and useful functionality from the site. It does have the effect of causing chaos in the community.
Anyway, if you guys are working on some fixes I'll sit back and have a little faith.

Everyone else is chiming in here, so I guess I will too. I like the site design, but only the site design. Functionality has been moved/removed/crippled in many respects, and I don't like that.Having all of the comments on a blog, or in the forum, on the same page was more productive than having several pages, each of which automatically scroll to the top of the blog.

done this atm:
1. removed GG from startup page - not needed anymore, cause no usable info
2. registered and preparing publications to another indie sites and communities, cause life is going, while GG site is down.
3. deleted possibility of using Torque tech in my concept documents and possiblility of publishing my games on IAC and GG... i am afraid of thing like this, that may happens again and i will loose more time and money
4. slowly backup TGE links and resources localy, i dont know when again SUDDEN update will come and all things will be unavailiable.
5. still continue using TGE for building prototypes for my games, this is great tool :))) thanks old GG for it... love it
6. still continue monitoring situation on GG and keeping inside my heart, HOPE for more good things.. but anyway, no trust from this time, sorry... old GG functions was vital everyday things for me.
anyway, even if i am so offencive, wish you guys from "new GG" luck handling all of those.

well it seems most of my old bookmarks are back. good.
Torque Owner Barry Gallagher
Would like to see forum/blog posts be one page again, was a time saver really.
Would like to see the jobs section back, its the only real way to get Torque specific staff which are essential for any real development.
Would like to see the snapshots back mainly because it was interesting.
I rate recent blogs over featured blogs, maybe switch the featured and recent.
Personally I liked the more compact, better use of real estate of the previous community page. Time is money really.
Thanks for the work
