dont like how new GG looking

#1 My comments may not be as strong as Maxim's but I am echoing the same feelings
lots of things are missing and the flow seems so different.

#2 I prefer the old site layout as well. However I don't believe it's just a theme. I think it's a complete rewrite on a different server. Or at least that's what I got from the blog.
I believe there are many of the things we are used to missing, and all we can do is hope that they choose to re-implement them.

#3 Ahhhh man, Im not going to keep complaing, but the more Im using this "New" site, im not linking it.

I used the word DISTILLED before in the GG Blog.

It feels DISTILLED

-Dont understand how to edit my own comments after posting.
- Can find a button to show how to add smiles, or embed images url links.
- Blogs go Page 1,2,3,4 and you have to click through them and each time the full blog is written
again at the top, If I post a comment, Im sent back to the 1st page.
- Whats new section seems in reverse.

#4 Yes, the new site has it's issues.
Yes, it is missing copious amounts of usability.
No, this blog is not an appropriate response.

#5 It's different that's for sure. One thing I've noticed over the years is that as things change people bitch. I think's it's because people get so comfortable with old format's or older technology and when something new comes along they have lost all sense of direction and they freak out.....Yes it'll take users like myself to learn how to navigate around this new site but I personally think it's about F***** time.

#6 I don't like the new layout either. The "What's New" page should have everything that's new. Not just new blogs. All my watched posts are gone. I've been here for years and had a lot of watched posts and now it seems that I will have to start over again with that. There isn't an easy way to find your posts anymore, I use to just go to my account and use the links there. The paging in the posts will become irritating especially in resources as a lot of times people refer to an entry up the chain and now you will have to figure out what page it's on as well. At least let us turn off paging. I loved how easy it was to see what was going on in the community before, now I have to hunt for it.

#7 Dalo, I agree on the upgrade of the "appearance" but there is a HUGE amount of functionality missing. I don't really see anyone 'bitching' about navigation...I do see loads of 'gripes' about what made the gg.com site into a "community", is mostly missing.

#8 i understand all, new time, new featuress, new products, GG is moving to "better future" (hehe, like UAC in doom3)... BUT THERE IS ONLY 1 (ONE) thing
that every developer knows -- damn. make a TEST, on anothere server or just GIVE PEOPLE FREEDOM to choose from... if new design is better - all moves to new and old goes in trash, but what GG does - that just done as THEY think is better, without asking COMMUNITY... and what GG after that??? or GG is no more community oriented and looking for serious devs?

#9 I miss the dates on the recent blogs (let's me know if maybe I should check out things they said recently).

I miss seeing the last few forum posts (if I had only a few seconds to kill, it was a great way to see hot topics or to answer a quick question).

I miss being able to see the last 10 blogs.

I miss being able to see the last 10 employee blogs.

Just some features I'd like to see put back in.

#11 The new format is a lot better in that it has features (like search) revamped; there is barely a 'theme' in this website other than the new pansy banners as opposed to yellow. It's clean, reminds me of TGB and Apple but is sure meant for the better and is going to be improved. Just because I can't find my way around yet doesn't mean it's a bad thing;

Something I really want to be considered soon enough is the forum/blog reading; I see no immediate use for having the initial post all the time in the top of the page and navigating trough many comments will require a lot of page down/scroll down operations. At least that's going on in Firefox, maybe there's a smart jump function somewhere.

The new store is looking better and I hope it also supports Paypal; I would feel better with new banners (developer store is an example); Feels a bit put together in the last minute and the elements don't really fit, but then again, that's just my taste.

I would also suggest holding back F**** and f*** stuff.

man, i know .. design looks great and may be there will be more features and such things that will help us here.
but one thing - why GG cant say ppl:
"Hey guys we will change design and site engine, please backup your links and other tings, there may be some bad things happens!!! we start that at january,14, e prepared!!"
that must be told week ago.. and not just only in blog or in forum, its better that this must be personal mail.

that step broke all my plans... "looks great" - i mean for you guys,design looks great... but for me its lack of usability... anyway, making such thing in one moment isnt good... its like a bomb, and not good bomb...
it seems time to move to another community, more friendly to devs, without such "bombs"

#18 I think it looks nice. It's just a hassle to use the forums and resources now. Why not use PHPBB for the forums? Why delete all of the old forums, and consolidate them? Now, if I want to see the new forum posts, I have to go to 10 different places, before it was so easy. Now it's a hassle.

#19 Maxim, don't take it personal, I am unhappy myself with having to get used to the new layout; I am sure GG is lurking around looking up feedback and sure enough they will put some of the good old stuff in a way or another. Thing is, people feel the need to change, to mark new beginnings. It's a fact. It's evolution (nothing to do with that Darwin fellow).

At first I was horrified by the new color picked up for top banner (spotted first in the new documentation system); But then I recall the first GG websites, same color was used then. You can take a look at archive.org.

#20 I think it looks great, sure its moved around a little it and some things are missing, etc, but it went live within the last 24 hours, why not give it a chance to bed in, get modified, adjusted and evolve instead on instantly moan and critique. Feedback is always good, but alot of this is just moaning.
