TBS Starter Kit - Recruiting

by Krystian Lahage · 01/13/2009 (6:38 pm) · 6 comments

Hey everyone, Pickled Studios would like to create a TBS Starter Kit. As RTS games are becoming less and less tactical, a TBS (Turn Based Strategy) is the most tactical of the Strategy Genre. I have been experimenting with some art, but I can do absolutely no coding or scripting. If you are able to script the base of a TBS game, such as movement, special attacks, terrain affects units' damage, and different units are strong against other units, not to metion all of the gui scripting, the job is yours. We are hiring more than one scripter if possible, and the pay will be split between 2 Pickled Studios Developers and our scripters, for example if we have one scripter, he or she would receive 1/3 of the money earned. I can be reached at PickledStudios@AOL.com. Also, please leave suggestions for additions to the Starter Kit.

This is a great idea. These days Civ Revolution has been getting more of my game time than anything else. I love it!

What is the other two developers doing? You're sharing any possible profits so you're not paying directly, in which case it might become difficult for you to gather attention from programmers when they can just strike out on their own and make this pack themselves.

The idea sounds awesome, but sharing profits isn't really a 'job' and you'll have to show more details for talented people to consider this.

I'm interested. What is the turn around time? When do expect to go to alpha, beta, closed and open beta etc?

@ Stefan, one of the developers is me, and I handle all of the 3D art, such as terrain, buildings, characters, vehicles and so on. My second developer handles all of the textures for the models that I create, and all of the GUI art. Do you suggest that I pay upfront?

@ Andy I can't say I have any of these details yet, as I have only been able to start on the art. However the turn around time would be a reasonable amount of time, but at most 3 months.

Thanks, don't feel bad if you do though, cause I have no coding experience, and I'd probably end up being one of your customers! =)
