Hi,

I'm new to torque but then again I'm not new to it. back in the day i did some mapping and modding for both Tribes and Tirbes2 and have owned the torque engine for quite a while just never got around to doing much in it anyway, my son and i have decide to try and make a small zombies attack kinda FPS as a learning project for torque and the game dev process. you can see what iv got so far here . I'm always looking for advice and pointers

Looks pretty cool! My suggestion though would be to first mess around with modding the starter.fps game and see what you can do with it before you start a project like this. I think (especially with all the art involved) it will be a little bigger project then you might think.

Other then that looks good! Oh, and that pistol shouldn't be to high-poly for TGE.

yeah the pistol looks fine just needs to have the slide separated for animation but especially if it is a first person model it can even have a few more polys.

If you don't have the Zombie art yet... this is a great pack; has lots of animations and works with Torque.

Oh, and have fun... always nice to see kids get involved in game dev with their parents.

@ Okashera, I think you are probably right.. think I will start by just trying to get the weapons in to the FPS starter kit i guess kind of a weapons mod but still keeping in line with the goal of the zombie game. maybe also work though the 3d game programming all in one book

@ James, thanks for the comment on the pistol.. i think ill just make another model of it.. i had some strangeness going on with faces being created on the inside.. i deleted them out but im not sure if thats going to cause some problems with animating and importing in to torque.. i'm still vary new to Maya but it is a dream to work with

@ Tony, wow those are awesome. I'll probably use them if the game ever gets that far. i plan on doing most of the weapon and character modeling and putting my son on milkshape to model prop type stuff

and thank you all for you advice and comments!
