Game Name: Foundations of Hope Online
Technology: TGE + Torque MMO Kit
Genre: Christian Fantasy MMORPG
Company: Lethal Games Corporation
Game Website: Foundations of Hope Online

What started off as a small idea ended up to be a larger than expected. I now will have two underwater zones, a flooded New York and the Gulf of Mexico.

New York will have some nasty critters and players will be swimming around skyscrapers and possibly for accessing some non-flooded buildings. The Gulf of Mexico is a total underwater zone. Enter without a breathing apparatus and well you have issues. But it allows me to do the precipitation bubbles which look pretty cool. The Gulf of Mexico will be where people go harvest coral and other underwater crafting items. Hopefully someday I will build some sunken ships for players to swim, fight, and quest in. For now I am totally modelled out. Never thought that'd happen, but actually looking forward to getting back to the coding side of things.

Well can't do much if you can't breathe underwater. Obviously not a full scuba gear, but an item that does allow the players to do so.

Haha! Great update! Adding an underwater element sounds like a big push, and looks like it paid off. Nice work!

Great work, Leathel! I love games that support underwater exploration/fighting. It adds a unique element to the game and is usually a lot of fun :)

Good job!

@Andy,

Yeah. Spending the next couple weeks fixing some outdated web material and redoing most of the web and game images. The screenshots words link doesn't work, but the picture does. Also have a date for Book III and have people asking where it is, but it has been delayed until I get the game done. All the joys of being a one man team. Have to juggle all the roles. Actually it works out. I get bored if I did just modelling or coding or web creation. Allows me to switch vehicles and I don't get burned out. Just takes some time to make the rounds though :)

Awesome work.... but I find one thing really strange about all of this.

A genre that's a Christian Fantasy MMORPG made by Lethal Games Corporation?

Just picking on ya... it's awesome that you're doing the modeling and the coding!

@Andy,

Well only in Pre-Alpha state as in I let everybody run around while I still create zones. All hack and slash and no quests yet. I picture the game development split into three parts: technical, art, and story. The story to me has to be huge and a major portion, but first I need to work on what I can achieve technically and on the art side portions so I then know where my storylines can go.

Server has been up for a few months now. Just sign up and post if interested in being added. The Beta forums with the download is hidden until I get requestors accounts added in the beta group.

A couple things about using the Torque MMOKit is first of all a major amount of the work has been done thanks to Praire Games. Most of what I have to do is just modify the python portions to fit FoHO. Not sure if that is considered coding or scripting :) The second benefit is while alot of us are one man teams, in all truth, there is a core of devs that act as a team and we achieve a great deal by sharing knowledge. Without many of their help, I would have been stuck many times over.

I'll have to sign up for that beta testing. You've got me inspired and very interested Leathel.

I'd be happy to help test when I could. Also you have done a ton man, for one there seems to be alot of 3D modeling you've done and I'm starting to understand how much of a chore it is to model even one character. First the actual mesh then rigging it, which if you use weight painting--Wow how much time it can take. Not to mention each animation, texture- which the texture it self can consist of several different one's (alpha layer, normal map, specular, etc.). Add in buildings, weapons, items, monsters and wow you've got alot of time invested very quickly.

Okay - I have signed up (Wendal) but when I click on the Forum Index there doesn't appear to be a way to post.

@ Leathel I've posted on the beta thread section of the forum at FoHO. So if you need someone to test something out Leathel I'd be happy to help you out when I have time.

@ Andy if you've signed up for Leathel forums, make sure you verify your email, sign in and copy and paste that link Leathel put in his reply (http://www.foundationsofhope.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=phpbb2&file=viewtopic.php&t=255) then at the bottom click the post reply button then you should get a block where you can type what you wanna say.

Ahhh - found the problem. Because of the book at the top you never see the posts below - you have to scroll down first. Maybe remove the book or minimise it when on the forums.
