A Person Learns Game Development 1

Hello, I have owned torque for about 2 or 3 years now, I am just now getting around to doing something with it. I am not a good writer nor do I know jack about game development. I am learning as I go. I just recently purchashed the Combat Starter Kit as well as the RRGT combo pack. Thew RRGT combo pack is well worth the money, lots of good things there. I am however a bit disappointed in the CSK as there is still some bugs in it and the documentation lacks a bit. I will give it a thumbs up in that there is good things in that pack.
I started with the game I wanted to make, it took me awhile to figure this one out. I decided to do an ONLINE ONLY game, NO NOT A MMO or MMOG. Just a simple 16-64 man online game. I am doing this cause it seems that the more and more developers push out the less gameplay we get and the more EYE CANDY we get. I for one am a gameplay guy. Now do not get me wrong, I love eye candy also, but do I really need to go out and buy a $300 graphics card just cause I want to be able to play the latest smash hit for about 16 hours ? No I do not.
Now back to my plan. I am a one man team, with any luck some may join me in the future on this endeavor of mine, but if they don't I know I can get the support and help I need through the forums or through a content pack. This is it for part 1 and will update as much as possible.
---- Update 2
Well, I have done a few things since the last I did, I dont know about these blog things. Are you suppose to update after you get a crap load of stuff done ? Or do I just update once a week?
Anyway onto the goodies. Today I have learned that just cause something says it includes the source files does not mean it does.
My game plan is to get my game solid on the bug free aspect of it and I will worry about eye candy later on at a different date unless someone wants to help on that end. So in short I will be doing coding and scripting 90% of the time. I was able to manage on changing the flags and and some other stuff on the CSK, yes they are simple things, but to someone like me they are not so simple when you are looking for stuff.
IE: the flags. I could not figure out why I could not have a flag set at 256x162 and it would not work, yet if I have the flag set at 256x256 it works, so until I figure that out my Russian and USA flags will remain at 256x256

I have a temporary load screen of the company name done also

and my team selection menu screen
Got a small website up, not much really, just something to hopefully get some interest in the game and maybe some help you can visit Take Down Online

I updated this blog with your new updates. I would recommend this if you are planning on posting daily updates. If you post too much during the day, then other people's blogs get crowded off the page. No reason to make others unhappy! One blog a week is a good gauge.

I also learned that most of the GUI stuff is kept in the client folder. Does this mean I can remove the server folder and the data folder and keep it on the server only, cause we all know that rule #1 is this in online gaming " NEVER TRUST THE CLIENT" Guess I will test it out and see.

Today at work my friend mentioned to me that one of the games made here with TGE and is an online game, was in fact Hacked exponentially.
At first I told him "no way! You can't, it's impossible!"... but fact is, at least 1 player of this game knows how to hack it for the benefit of destroying other players at any level with just one cast of a spell.
The hacker even had the noids to brag in the forums and in the game ( Not on his account but another person account and even took screenshots to prove it for bragging rights ).
So after hearing about this today and in disbelief.. I went to read the forums and in game heard from players that have witnessed the instant kills.
I will refrain from mentioning the game. Hopefully they get it fixed soon. I still have a hard time believing it.
"Never trust the client" that's a good motto.

"Never trust the client" is right. Today at work my friend mentioned to me that one of the games made here with TGE and is an online game, was in fact Hacked exponentially.
