Demo Contest Deadline EXTENDED!

by Leba Lualdi · 11/03/2008 (8:09 pm) · 18 comments

Hey all,
Based on the large volume of interest in the Green-Ear Demo Contest we have decided to extend the submission deadline to December 1, 2008. Even though that will still be upon us relatively quickly, we really need to get some Green-Ear examples out there so hopefully we can get some good submissions by then.

For those of you who are not yet familiar with the Green-Ear Demo Contest...let me fill you in.

First, what is Green-Ear? Green-Ear makes it simple and affordable to include voice features into your games. That includes voice chat, voice morphing, private and public channels and some voice fonts. For an in depth technical overview see our CEO's blog entry on it here.

Green-Ear's Demo Contest: Instead of providing you with a crap demo we have decided to give you an opportunity to build a demo of our voice features inside of your own game, in any platform. We will review all demo submissions and award $1,000 to 1st Place, $500 to 2nd place and $250 to 3rd place winners.

The top 3 winners will have their games showcased in our booth at the GDC in San Francisco in March. All Demo submissions will be displayed on our website, green-ear.com.

And all submissions are reimbursed for their SDK- That's right, if you enter, your SDK is free. Win, win.

Here is how easy it is to compete::

1. Buy a Software Development Kit for $49.95 for Indies or $99.95 for Commercial Developers @ www.garagegames.com/products/310

2. After you submit your demo game we will credit your money back

3. Use Green-Ear to add voice features to your game

4. Send your Demo contest submission to Leba (at) green-ear.com

5. Rules: You can submit as many entries as you wish but all entries must be submitted no later than
the EXTENDED deadline of December 1, 2008.

Here is a picture of me being excited about the deadline extension: www.green-ear.com/images/surprised.png
Thanks,
Leba

Now you are gonna get it, believe me. There will never be another picture-less blog. Plus, I heart taking pictures of myself with my laptop to give you a real time Leba experience.

Don't know how coherent I will be on that particular day, so I hope contestants blog before or after. I'm interested in how this will turn out.

LOL!! ...Awesome. :D

Thats what happen when calling "heretic" a woman... they always take it personally (some witchcraft related gen, I guess). Moreover there are a few girls here on the GG community by now, so I better behave myself before founding some unpleasant voodoo doll on my doorstep...

Oh My, there will be no scape nor place to hide the day this women join spells... we must act!
...but in clandestinity, I dont wanna risk myself to be turned into a frog... And I give faith, Deb is no scared by long distances (no one is safe!).

Concerning YOU Michael, are too near the role of the bad witches gnome/helper/thing... Im really worried about you.

Leba - Thanks for the emails and extension of the deadline, should give us some time to get a demo together :) got to get my arse in gear now then.

lol Novack... think you're a little late for the voodoo dolls saw a great batch of them in the shops, said on the back manufactured by Marshall Inc., advertised free pins for the first 1000 items purchased and I can't help picturing Michael as an evil little gnome... now that's a photoshop opportunity if ever I heard one.

@Andy: d(^_^)b You are one mere photoshop away from getting the "Seal of Awesomeness" on this thread. All you need is to work with a little source art.

That blog will be the death of me...

If I get Photoshopped as a gnome, I will enter the Green-Ear contest and submit my demo entitled "Pretty Princess Novack and Pretty Princess Andy, the Pretty Princess Adventures: Episode 1."

Keep in mind I have access to all the content in the GG store, plus mad Gimp skills, 4 years of Torque experience, and a tendency to take things too far.

Hey Leba, our game is a LAN game,so we want to have voice chat without connecting internet. Can we build a server ourself ? Or, what can we do to have voice chat without connecting internet?

@Yi Weibin - That isn't really an option. Part of the product is using their servers.

OK, We've heard from quite a bit of you who are not quite finished with your demos but who are working diligently that you need more time. Out of my great love for you, we are pushing the demo contest deadline back. But this is it! 2009 will some with a host of new opportunities, but the demo contest shall now be one of them.

You heard it here first and I will make a separate blog about it as well. Demo contest deadline EXTENDED to December 31, but don't dilly dally, that will be here before you know it!

Let me know if you have any questions!
