Just took the plunge

Wow its been a long time since a blog post from me. See lots changed. I now work for Concord University in Athens WV as a application systems programmer. The majority of the programming I do involves Oracle and Active Directory. I enjoy it and it pays a lot more than I was making at the other college.

On the game side, I just made the plunge into TGEA. Less than 10 mins ago I processed my order, and I can't wait to get my hands dirty in it. I've been wanting to go to TGEA for a while now, but just couldn't afford it and/or convince the wife to let me drop the cash on it.

So here I go again on a whirlwind learning experience. I'm also hoping to becoming a more active community member. I've had a lot of ideas in the past but just couldn't bring them to fruition for one reason or another, so maybe with stuff being calm and cool in my life right now, I'll be able to put some attention into them.

Well time to start reading some forums and documentation. I can't wait!

Good luck! My only advice would be to take the time to *read* the getting started documentation. (As opposed to glossing over it). GG has put together argurably some of the best deliverable documentation for a game engine anywhere. Also, the porting document is *extremely* useful if you're coming over from TGE.

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

Oh and cute baby! Glad to see you're starting 'em off right!

Thanks Devon.

I did notice the docs were a lot better than TGE. My plan is to read over them completely before I touch code.

Thanks for the comment about my daughter. I really need to update that pic, its over 13 months old!
