Who am I? Part 1

Hi all,
I'm posting this blog so people can know who I am and what I'm about. So if for some strange reason they want to get to know me, they can have an idea of who they are talking to :P
First let me thank Steven Moore for directing me to this link: www.sloperama.com/advice/lesson24.html
I think it's an excellent read for anyone looking to get into the gaming business.
Alright now that I've got that out of the way, let me get started.
I graduated from high school in 2005 and had my mind set that I wanted to do something along the lines of programming. My dad worked part time at a printing company(as a graphic artist) that specializes in direct mail, and he told me they use the PCL printer language to merge variable data to the directmail peices. So he got an interview lined up for me at the beginning of 2006. That seemed like a good place to get me started. Well like a week before my interview with the printing company I started working as a mechanics shophand for a small automobile transport company in January 2006. A friend of my family's was the mechanic(working on Peterbuilt trucks) and his shophand didn't show up to work and he was in a bind so he asked if i wanted the job. I told him I'll help him right now but I had an interview lined up with a printing company and if I got that job then I would have to take it. He understood and he hired me for the time being. During my time there I did things as simple as changing oil and as complex as helping change the flywheel and tear the engine apart to replace pistons. We even stripped and repainted a Camaro. Prior to that all I had ever done with an automobile was put gas in it and drive it. :P
Well I had the interview for the printing company about a week after I started working at the transport company and the owner said that he cannot guarentee anything because I had no experience but if I really wanted to work there then I could come up there a few days after I get off work and kind of work hand and hand with the guy that was about to take over that department (the guy that was currently over it was on real thin ice) to see if he thought I could work out. I agreed on the spot as I wanted to get out of the mechanics shop ASAP. Not that I didn't enjoy working there, because I did. It was just the conditions were not exactly what I wanted to work in. You're freezing cold in the winter and super hot in the summer because its a warehouse with no insulation and concrete floors that depends on a few space heaters for heat. And the worst part for me was having to get all of the oil and grease off everyday....that itself was like a fulltime job!
I went in maybe 2 or 3 days for an hour or 2 as kind of a try out or whatever. And they told me that if/when they fire the other guy then they'll let me know. Well I went on working for the transport company for about 2 and 1/2 months and then they contacted me and told me they fired the other guy so I could come in and work out the details of everything to start working there. So I gave my current employer a 2 weeks notice and started working for the printing company on the weekends and some days after I got off work as kind of a pre hiring paid try out and then they would hire me fulltime after the 2 weeks if I was able to do what they needed. My last week working for the transport company the owner called me into his office(I thought I screwed up something) and thanked me for all I did while I worked there. He told me if I ever needed any help to call him up and he'll do what he can for me. He said "I've had to fire alot of people, but you are the first employee that ever quit." He even asked if I would stay if he raised my pay up more(I took a pay cut to go work for the printing company). What he told me that day will stick with me the rest of my life. Before that day I had never really had a conversation with him. Guess you could say he was a little intimidating. The main thing that stood out to me was that the whole time I worked there I knew it was only temporary and I wasn't trying to get raises or anything and I was still able to give 100% and have the owner notice even though he spent most of his time away from the shop. And most of all, I wasn't even interested in what I was doing the whole time(except when we painted the Camaro....that was pretty cool). So my time had ended working at the transport company after about 3 months.
To be continued...(later today or early tomorrow)
