trebuchet and other stuff

I've been working on some medieval weapon systems and thought I'd put a screen / video out and get some feedback.. If you have any suggestions or ideas, I'd be glad to hear them...
At this point, I'm thinking about: trebuchets, smaller catapults, ballistas, mounted battering rams and a hinged ladder.. I was trying to come up with some defensive ideas, but I am stumped...
At any rate... Here is the trebuchet for starters

Looks really nice. The only thing I notice is the bend in the arm at the beginning of the sling is a bit off visually. Almost looks like there's a bounce in the load in the sling. Which is fine if that's what it is, but it's a hair late into the release it still seems...

What about a cauldron of boiling oil for the defenders to dump on the attackers?

Steve.. yea, that thought momentarily crossed my mind, but how the heck can you pull off flowing oil in the engine I wonder??? Any ideas?

Have Apparatus look into the oil for you - he did an excellent job with his waterfall/river effects.

For some defensive idea..
arrow towers.
cannon towers..
palisades with ballistas mounted at corners and gates
oil trenches -- this could be as simple as a river water block with black oil, and preplaced explosion emitters that fire on script triggers.
just some thoughts. Awesome looking trebuchet!
