I have been working on a WWII total converion mod for Tribes 2 for some monhts now. Will probably port it to V12 later down the line.
So right now I have taken a giant but important step backward. I'm now writing a full game design document. It's going good (24 pages so far) will probably end somewhere near 100 pages when it's done. Hopefully then it will cover most aspects of the game and end up saving us so time in the long run.
Planning ahead is allways a good plan.

Phil don't make him think that a 10 page document would be sufficient for a detail-concept of a game. This is nonesense. You're right when you say that overdoing is bad but so is underdoing! You may not like concept documents but if it contains the right things it is vital for the development.
Just try to do a game without any concept doc at all and you'll know what i mean :)

Set your objectives for the MAIN parts of the game. For instance, how many players, how many different models, weapons, etc.. DONT go into too much detail and DEFINITELY dont do any story or background work.
Mark out your main goals, and write detailed objectives out in a just in time method (for instance, define the next two weeks objectives once you reach the firsts).
That way you'll feel like your making progress all the time too.
Phil.
