Releasing the complete Wheels for free

by CodingChris · 02/16/2008 (3:35 am) · 15 comments

Hi,
After a few days of thinking I decided to release the complete Wheels for free. As I said I was trying to get some money back that I put into development. But now I decided that it would be the best way to release the full game for free and get more feedback. So, I'm happy to announce Wheels has been released for free this morning. The game now contains 60 missions. As little bonus I added the creator mission, which helps you to create new missions yourself. Now download the full version of the game and have fun!

Download Wheels!

Please take the Wheels survey:

By the way: A mission update for Wheels 2 is on the way and will hopefully released soon.

No need to be sorry, my friend! I just like pictures. ;)

Plus - now I'm really interested in the game. That's a pretty fantastic screenshot! I haven't played the game yet, yesterday I was super busy trying to get a prealpha build of Unek ready for release.

Christian,

Do you do any TGB games? It seems like I know your logo from somewhere else. Any way . . .

The game didn't work on my computer, this is what it looks like:

An atlas terrain problem? I tried a bunch of different video options; they didn't change anything.

@H. W. Kim: FileFront.com has sometimes problems with the page layout and with download managers. I guess without a download manager it works fine.That's the problem with free games, I have to keep the costs low:)

@Kevin:
I do't do TGB games, I didn't even try it... To your problem: Just don't have an idea. I installed the game without a problem. The problem occurred during early development process, because of wrong Atlas texture paths. It has been fixed a long time, ago. Please provide more information about your system, sometimes it

I'm glad you released for free.... are there other textures beyond just painted green?

There are other textures as well, but textures in this game are very simple.

Thanks but no Thanks. If I wanted free poop I would get it from my toilet. This game is very sloppy I suggest you burn it to the ground!

Jacque,

You have such a way with words. Why don't you create a .plan and post all the games you have made - or in the very least offer constructive criticism here; instead of behaving like a fool.

Christian -

Here's my specs:

Intel Core2Duo 2.66ghz
512 memory graphics card (nVidia something or other)
2 gigs of ram
Windows XP service pack 2

What do you think?

@Jaque:
Feel free to write me an email, with a list of all the things that you would improve. You'll find my email adress in my account information.
@Kevin:
Just don't have an idea. I didn't try it on XP, yet, but I'll do and let you know if it's working. Until then my only idea is that you reinstall the game into another directory.

@Kevin:
I tried it on a machine with:
AMD Athlon64 Duo 2,4 ghz
256 memory graphics card (nVidia)
2 gigs of ram
Windows XP service pack 2

It works without problems. I suggest you open the Wheels directory and send me the file console.log via email. Maybe that would show me where the problem is.

@Kevin:
I've got another idea. Try out Wheels2 would be interesting to see if the problem still exists in the next version.
