StackHeap Master Server Beta Release

by Mike Kuklinski · 02/03/2008 (10:23 pm) · 5 comments

In ammendum to my previous blog post (which I apologize for it being so short, as I was at work when I wrote it... yes, I am a very busy at work, obviously), I am posting a beta binary for the SHMS... no source yet, it's not ready for public release.

It -should- be capable of handling all basic Torque functions... server updates, lists, filters...

A few things:

It is only compiled for Windows x86 systems... it will probably run under other systems other emulators or interpreters, though... it's not very complex.

I compiled it in release mode as right now I am not too interested in debugger output, only in stability in general... please report ANY problems you encounter with it to me.

thanks for making this, I've tried it, so far I can't get it to work unfortunately. I am using the AFX for TGEA, the server says it registers the dedicated server, but the client says that 0 servers are returned. Of course it does this with the GG master server too (at least it doesn't show anything) so I had assumed that there was something wrong with the AFX TGEA and the master server not knowing how to communicate. I don't know if there is anything special with this one, and I haven't tried it with straight TGE152 (which i have been able to get to work with GG master server). Anyway, if you have any insight as to why a AFX TGEA dedicated server wont work I'd be grateful for your help.

Thanks again for making this though!

Im going to turn this over to my Server guy, maybe he can show me how this is supposed to work with torque as i am not really familiar with the true relation ship between a server and client, I mean in theory i understand but that only goes so far, right now graphic programming is where i am at...but I'm sure this will be very helpful in the future. But one question: Are you planning on making any sort of usage tutorial in the future?

I was gonna make my own, but i think i will wait and see what becomes of this. Looks promising. I will test this out later when i get some free time.

I don't mind command line for the MS, but would prefer some type of GUI interface. Either way looks good so far. Looking forward to more updates on this.

Anyone seen anything that works with TGEA?
